Game promotion must include an image/gif/video showing game footage
Game promotion posts MUST contain either a direct link to an image, image gallery that loads inline on reddit, a gif, a gifv/gfycat, webm, youtube, or other gameplay content.
No game dev focused content
Keep promotion posts about the game, gameplay, and why players should care about the game. Developer-focused content such as development logs, marketing discussions, anything steamworks related, in engine- stuff, and technical topics is not permitted. This helps keep the community focused on players rather than developers.
No promotion posts under guise of feedback.
No questions allowed to be asked in post titles of promotion posts. No more “would you play this?” Or “should we add multiplayer” Just promote your game with a catchy title and some info about the game. Posting any links to store pages, social media, websites, or asking for feedback on any promotion material such as Steam Capsule images, store pages, trailers, or website is NOT ALLOWED. r/indiegames is not a game developer subreddit. Do not post game dev related posts.
No A/B capsule art testing or promotion of unfinished art assets
r/indiegames is NOT a game development subreddit. We aren’t here to help you make your game or give you feedback on unfinished aspects of your game that you, as the developer, should be able to figure out.show off finished artwork only and do not post capsule images or models/art/posts from inside of editor tools.
No promotions of YouTube or Twitch channels, Podcasts or other socials
This subreddit is to help discover indie games and connect indie developers with audiences by giving them a channel to showcase their game. Please don't use it to promote your YouTube channels, Twitch streams or similar opportunities.

  7. Don't overpost. Post 2 times per week
    Don't overpost your content. Choose your best work and share 2 times per week to give people a chance to digest what you're sharing. This also allows others to shine through.
  8. Evading automod
    Automoderator is setup to require users post screenshots/gifs of games so that we can see what gameplay looks like before clicking on a site outside of reddit.
  9. No adult content
    While NSFW content - blood, etc, is allowed, adult content is not.
  10. Be civil and respectful
    Treat the others like you would treat yourself.
  11. No promotions under the guise of before/after posts
  12. No generative AI posts
    Be they used for text only or visual assets. We respect the craft and gen-AI is feeding on other people's work entirely.
