Allowed, with limits Its rules allow sharing your own work, with conditions they spell out.

What this page is

This page quotes r/3Dprintingbusiness's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-05. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/3Dprintingbusiness's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

r/3Dprintingbusiness is a place to encourage the sale of 3D printed products. The focus here is business.

What its rules say about promotion

No self promotion
This sub exists to discuss business issues. No one in business wants to buy your products. For example, this sub does not exist for you to promote your Etsy store (or any other ecommerce platform or site).
Links are OK
Found a hot product with a commercial license on one of the many STL repositories? Share a link to the product page and a description of why you think it's a hot topic.
Sell for what the market will bare
A common question in other forums has been "how much can I sell my prints for?" Use one of the many cost calculators online, but price your products appropriately. Feel free to ask if your price seems reasonable, or what the community feels is appropriate. Note: if the latter, be prepared to share a link or build information (e.g. how much filament is required for a particular product) for educated guesses.
All 7 rules of r/3Dprintingbusiness
  1. Reddit rules prevail
Read Reddit's Terms of Service and Community Standards. Anything prohibited by either is automatically prohibited here. Posts violating Reddit rules will be deleted.
  2. No self promotion
This sub exists to discuss business issues. No one in business wants to buy your products. For example, this sub does not exist for you to promote your Etsy store (or any other ecommerce platform or site).
  3. International audience
3D printing and the sale of products takes place all around the world. Although Reddit is based in the United States, questions may arise regarding business practice in other countries. Posters are reminded to state (either in the title or in the body of a post) what country they operate in, or what country an issue pertains to.
  4. Respect intellectual property
Discussion of the reproduction or sale of products where copyright, patent or trademark exists is prohibited. This sub is not the place to exploit the laws of any country.
  5. Links are OK
Found a hot product with a commercial license on one of the many STL repositories? Share a link to the product page and a description of why you think it's a hot topic.
  7. Mods have the final say
The last thing this sub needs is 1,000 specific rules. Rules will be amended as needed. If a mod feels a post is questionable, the post may be locked and the poster contacted to discuss the issue. In the end, mods have the final say about content.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
