Can you promote on r/3DPrintingTools?

Allowed, with limits Its rules allow sharing your own work, with conditions they spell out.

What this page is

This page quotes r/3DPrintingTools's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-05. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/3DPrintingTools's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

A community for discovering, reviewing, and discussing tools that make 3D printing easier.... apps, slicers, calculators, diagnostics, and everything in between. Share what's working for you.

What its rules say about promotion

No spam
Excessive promotion, spam, or advertising of any kind is not allowed.
Disclose affiliations
If you're a developer or have a financial stake in a tool you're sharing, say so upfront. Transparency is welcome here; hidden promotion is not.
Stay on topic
Posts should be about software, apps, or digital tools for 3D printing. General print help, hardware issues, and build showcases belong in r/3Dprinting.
Self-Promotion (1 per week)
Self-promotion is welcome here! Developers and makers are encouraged to share their tools and creations. Limit 1 self-promotional post per user per week. Must be genuinely relevant to 3D printing tools. Always disclose your affiliation.
No unauthorized copies of protected designs
Do not request, upload, link to, convert, distribute, or sell scans, meshes, STLs, CAD files, or other reproductions of copyrighted commercial products, characters, logos, or branded designs unless you own the rights, have permission or a licence, or the work is in the public domain. General discussion of scanning, modelling, mesh repair, and conversion techniques is allowed when it does not facilitate distribution of an unauthorized copy.

  2. No spam
Excessive promotion, spam, or advertising of any kind is not allowed.
  3. Share your experience
Posts about tools should include your actual experience using them, not just a link. Tell us what you used it for and how it worked.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
