What its rules say about promotion

No self-promotion, advertising, solicitations, or research ideas
This includes business solicitations and market research ideas, referrals and job postings. Do not post your own blog, website, or video channel. We expect users to not use the subreddit for financial gain, although we will remove self-promotion regardless of whether there has been personal financial gain. This also extends to PM'ing users because of comments they made on this subreddit.
Duplicative posting
Reposting of content within a short period of time of other posts or meta posts meming off of other posts are prohibited in order to focus threads and promote a diversity of content on the subreddit.

    Be patient with others. Keep disagreements polite. You can feel free to be "harsh", but never insulting. Personal attacks are not tolerated.
  2. No self-promotion, advertising, solicitations, or research ideas

    While no advice or credentials of those giving advice have been verified or endorsed, any blatant violations of ethical rules are not tolerated.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
