All 14 rules of r/AskIndia
  1. Questions must be clear, direct, and in the title of the post.
    - Your title should end with a question and a question mark. - All posts must be written in English so that they are widely understood by the userbase of the community. - More context about the question can be added into the post body.
  2. No Personal, Medical or Professional advice requests
AskIndia is NOT your personal, medical or professional advice platform, there are other subreddits which can serve this purpose better.
  3. Only Thought-provoking and Discussion oriented questions
AskIndia is a space for engaging, meaningful discussions. Ask open-ended questions that spark thoughtful answers and debates. That means no question which can be answered as yes/no, something that can be googled easily or any survey or poll.
  4. No Personal Information
    - Do not post or seek any real or fake personal information (examples include: full names, phone numbers, email addresses, or social media accounts).
  5. No Unnecessary Hatred or Bigotry
Stay civil & respectful, being uncivil will lead to permanent bans. Unsure of what's uncivil, see below: - Do not make personal attacks, insult, or demean a specific group or person. - We do not allow slurs. - No blatant statements of bigotry including misogyny, homophobia & transphobia. Ask India is a safe space and we'd like to maintain that. - No posts that 'bait' users into breaking other rules. - Zero tolerance for posts/comments that sexualize minors.
  6. Respectful, Supportive, and Safe Community Policy
This is first and foremost a safe space. Needlessly invalidating content, unwarranted/harmful advice giving, anecdotes presented as facts/solutions, and inexpert opinions including armchair diagnosis will be removed. Offenders may be banned. This space is not a replacement for therapy. Avoid seeking advice on sensitive topics if possible. Please do not post suicidal ideation posts.
  7. Prohibition of Solicitation

  10. Language Policy
All posts must be written in English so that they are widely understood by the userbase of the community.
  11. No Rants/Vents
This subreddit is for questions and constructive discussion. Posts that are purely emotional rants, personal vents, or general complaints without a clear question or intent to start a meaningful conversation will be removed. While we understand that people face real frustrations, /r/AskIndia is not a space for offloading emotions without purpose. If you’re looking to share personal experiences, please ensure they’re framed around a question or a topic of broader relevance.
  12. No Misinformation
Deliberate misinformation, conspiracy theories, and unverified claims presented as facts are not allowed. This includes sharing fake news, outdated data, or misleading narratives without credible sources. If you’re stating something as fact, be prepared to back it up with reliable evidence. Repeated or harmful misinformation—especially on sensitive topics—may lead to removal or a ban. When in doubt, verify before you post.
  13. No Derailing Participation
Keep discussions focused and constructive. Off-topic comments, baiting, trolling, or attempts to hijack threads will be removed. This subreddit encourages good-faith engagement — not provocation or agenda-pushing.
  14. Moderator Discretion
Moderators reserve the right to remove any post or comment that, in their judgment, does not align with the spirit or rules of the community. This includes content that may be disruptive, in bad faith, or otherwise detrimental to constructive discussion.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
