Can you promote on r/caps?
No rule mentions promotion None of its rules mentions self-promotion. That is not permission: read every rule, say plainly that it's yours, and make the post useful on its own.
What this page is
This page quotes r/caps's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-06. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/caps's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

- its rules on Reddit
Welcome to the (un)official subreddit of the Washington Capitals, of the National Hockey League.
All 8 rules of r/caps
- All submissions must be directly related to the Washington Capitals
Any posts not related in any way to the Washington Capitals will be removed. Repeatedly posting irrelevant items may lead to a ban. - Racist, ethnic, sexist or homophobic slurs/remarks of any kind will not be tolerated.
Any remarks with these items in it will lead to a ban. - Attacking or harassing other users will not be tolerated.
Treat other users on here the way you would want to be treated. Failure to treat other users with respect may result in a ban. If you see someone being attacking another user or you feel like you are getting attacked just report the offending comment. Generally speaking, nothing good ever comes from engaging with hostile users. - Follow Reddit's Content Policy and use good Reddiquette.
[Reddit's Content Policy can be found here.](https://www.redditinc.com/policies/content-policy) Failure to adhere may result in a ban. [Use good Reddiquette](https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439-Reddiquette) while a member of our community. - Duplicate, low-effort, troll, clickbait or misleading posts may be removed at moderator discretion.
Somethings that fit this category are posts that: * Can easily be answered with a Google Search. * Have already been covered by a recent post in the subreddit or in the FAQ. * Are unsourced speculation (EX: posting news without a source). * Are a low resolution video or image. * Violate Rule 6 on Post Titles. * Posts that fit one or more of these qualifiers may be better suited for the daily thread which can be found stickied at the top of the sub each day. - No Trolling Opponent's Subreddits
On game days it can be fun to talk with fans of another team. This subreddit always welcomes any fans to come here to talk about a game. However, we do not allow fans of other teams to come here and troll. Along with this, we do not allow /r/Caps users to troll in an opponents subreddit. Failure to follow this rule will lead to a ban. - Post Titles must be Descriptive and High Quality. Violating posts may be removed.
Posts with sensationalized, misleading, ambiguous, non-descriptive, or low-effort titles may be removed. Post titles, especially if linking to an article or news, must clearly summarize why it is relevant to the Capitals to inform readers. Generally, use the article title. In cases where the title isn't clear on why it is relevant to the Capitals, modify it to make it clear. For example: turn "10 Underrated Shooters in the NHL" to "10 Underrated Shooters in the NHL - Ovechkin rated #9". - Auto XSub Pact Ban
Posts and comments inciting violence, lewd or lascivious behavior, or other gross and nsfw descriptions will be flagged for cross sub bans. Posts and comments referencing self-harm, suicide, or other loss of life meet this criteria. Any use of slurs will qualify you for a cross sub ban. Brigading or otherwise 'crashing' the subreddit may receive this ban. A cross sub ban mean that you will not just be banned in r/caps, but also in other participating team subreddits.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
