What its rules say about promotion
No Advertising allowed
This sub is here for people to ask questions and learn about their vehicle, not for anyone to advertise products, surveys, or other items related to cars
All 6 rules of r/carquestions
- Accuracy of information
On /r/carquestions we strive to provide the best and most accurate information we can to people who have questions. We appreciate your want to help and add value, but we also want to focus on building a community that people who have questions can rely on for accurate information. Please stick around and ask questions and and partake in the discussion, but be mindful to verify any information you provide to someone as fact. - Off topic
We welcome discussion and conversation in both posts or in the comments section. Even if they stray from the original post, so long as they don't derail the core discussion or the attempts to have questions answered, we welcome them. However, the main goal of our community is to help people with car questions. If a comment or post does not add value to the community or too greatly disrupts from our core goal and core value of helping to answer peoples car questions, then it will be removed. - Treat eachother with respect
Our community is one where we treat each other with mutual respect and courtesy. This isn't a place for name calling, being short tempered, or insulting someones lack of knowledge in an area or poor choices. If you have feedback for someone, there are constructive and respectful ways to deliver that message. - Joke posts/comments
Jokes are fine if they are clearly jokes, and contained within a good answer, with good information. Comments or posts that are purely jokes, with no helpful information or a question get in the way of more serious requests that people may need help on. The issue is that funny jokes tend to get a lot of attention, and can sometimes end up overshadowing a serious question or post someone made that needs help. We can joke around, but we need to keep helping people our first priority. - No redundant comments
We very much welcome extra insight, along with asking follow up questions like "how did that happen?" but let's not keep repeating ourselves. It doesn't help the community to be the 8th person to say "It's the cap for your washer fluid bottle!". Once a question has been answered, unless you can add some extra context or insight, then move on. Otherwise there is no sense repeating what is already said. - No Advertising allowed

What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
