Can you promote on r/chessvariants?
No rule mentions promotion It lists no rules on its Reddit rules page. That is not permission: read its sidebar and pinned posts, say plainly that it's yours, and make the post useful on its own.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? A subreddit dedicated to sharing and discovering different styles of chess. 1. No promotion of the same app/site/event/channel more than once every two weeks. 2. A variant is defined as "chess, but with modifications". Not a different game entirely, but with elements of chess. 3. When discussing a particular variant, put its name clearly in the title of the post. 4. Discord links are by default not trusted. 5. No AI slop. 6. Rules must immediately visible and easily accessible.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
