Can you promote on r/cofoundermatch?
No rule mentions promotion None of its rules mentions self-promotion. That is not permission: read every rule, say plainly that it's yours, and make the post useful on its own.

- its rules on Reddit
r/cofoundermatch is a focused community for founders actively looking to find technical or business cofounders to start, grow, or scale a startup. This is not a networking or discussion forum—if you want to build something real, post your skills, ideas, and what you’re looking for in a partner.
All 6 rules of r/cofoundermatch
- State Compensation Clearly
When posting, you are required to disclose compensation. You must specify what you’re offering: - cash (paid role) - equity (unpaid, ownership-based) - cash+equity (blended comp) No “let’s figure it out later” posts. - Disclose Traction
Disclose where are you at traction wise: - Paying customers - MVP launched or beta testers - Validated idea (user interviews, LOIs, or waitlist) - ❌ Idea only If you’re at idea only, you must say so clearly. - Specify Commitment Level
How much time are you expecting from your cofounder? 🕐 Full-time 🕑 Part-time (10-20 hrs/week) 🌱 Ad hoc / exploratory If you want full-time commitment with no pay, be ready for skepticism. That’s a huge ask. - Say What You’re Bringing
Cofounder match ≠ hiring for free. You must mention at least one: 💰 You’re funding it yourself 💼 You bring domain expertise or network 💳You’ve already closed sales or partnerships If all you bring is “the idea,” don’t expect people to jump. - No Vague Pitches
No buzzwords. No stealth startups. No 5-paragraph dreams. Your post should include: • Who you are • What you’re building (in plain terms) • What you need • What you offer - Be Respectful. No Guilt-Tripping.
No “real founders work for free” or “if you’re not willing to suffer you’re not serious.” That kind of mindset is toxic and gets removed.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
