What this page is
This page quotes r/ColonyCats's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-05. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/ColonyCats's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? - its rules on Reddit
r/ColonyCats is a subreddit for individuals who provide food, shelter, and TNR services to colony cats. These groups are made up of feral, semi-feral, stray, and otherwise “free-roaming” cats and kittens who live outdoors. *This is a place for caregivers to ask for advice, share their experiences, and learn how to better care for their colonies. *No anti-colony/anti-TNR management arguments, hoarding, or abuse. * USERS POSTING REQUESTS FOR ASSISTANCE/DONATIONS MUST BE BASED IN THE USA.
What its rules say about promotion
No animal abuse
No promoting the intentional harm of an animal by a human.
All 5 rules of r/ColonyCats
- Be Civil
Disagreements are going to happen - keep them civil. No personal attacks, no threats, no hate. - No anti-colony management talk (except where designated)
It's okay to not like cats and to recognize their environmental harm, but this is not the place. This sub is for people who also don't like the fact that these cats are on the streets, but want to do something productive about it. - No animal abuse
No promoting the intentional harm of an animal by a human. - We like cats here
It's okay if you don't like cats. Not everyone does! There are better places for you to talk about your dislike than a community cat support sub. - Requests for Assistance are open to US based caretakers ONLY.
Due to our inability to verify the authenticity of many users outside of the USA, any posts requesting assistance in the form of supply donations or other forms of financial support MUST BE BASED IN THE USA. All others will be denied.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
