  1. All posts must be about deciding to be better and follow posting criteria
    Posts should: - Show a desire to improve your current self or situation - Be well-formatted and clearly written in English. - Have the appropriate flair. Advice-seeking posts should ideally be titled with “How do I [insert area you want to improve on]” so others can better understand which area you need help with. Posts that are off-topic, asking for advice on staying in an unhealthy relationship or life decisions will be removed
  2. No AI generated posts/comments
    We would love to hear your thoughts in your own words, and not through an AI. Using AI to format or edit your post even if it is in “your own words”, also counts as being AI generated. AI posts and comments will be removed. Repeated violations of this rule may result in warnings, temporary or permanent bans.
  3. Be respectful and no bigotry is allowed
    All comments and interactions should embody the spirit of "deciding to be better." This means no name-calling, insults, arguing, trolling, hate speech, bigotry (racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia etc) or otherwise disrespectful comments. Comments of this nature will be removed, and in some cases, users may receive a permanent ban. Remember that people are here to learn from their mistakes and be better.
  4. No NSFW, porn or masturbation addiction posts/discussions are allowed
    Content related to gore, abuse, violence, sexual acts, or self-harm will be removed. Violation of this rule may lead to a temporary or permanent ban, depending on mod’s discretion. If you are seeking advice for porn or masturbation addiction, please proceed to r/nofap or r/pornfree for support.

  6. No venting/self-hate posts or posts talking about self-harm/suicide
    We understand that some users are in a dark place and need support, but r/decidingtobebetter is not equipped to provide you with the appropriate help. - Posts that are simply ranting about a situation without any desire to improve will be removed. Please proceed to r/vent, r/rant, or r/offmychest for such posts. - If you are considering suicide, please visit r/suicidewatch and contact your local suicide helplines or a professional for support. For mental health suport, visit r/mentalhealth.
  7. No seeking/offering medical advice or diagnosis
    - We are not medical professionals. Please consult a doctor for medical advice or diagnosis. - Any comments attempting to "armchair diagnose" will also be removed to avoid spreading misinformation.
  8. No drug/medication advice
    Comments advising or encouraging others to try drugs or other medication as a solution to their problems (even if legal in some countries) will be removed. We cannot know the medical history of others, and not everyone will have the same reaction as you did. Additionally, drugs may be illegal in some countries. Do NOT offer or ask for advice or tips on how to obtain drugs.
  9. Requests for services, goods, or assistance are not permitted
    Fundraising posts or requests for financial or non-financial assistance are not allowed. Posts seeking services are also not allowed. Please proceed to r/assistance or r/gofundme for such topics.
  10. NO political debates or discussions
    Any posts regarding politics will be removed.
