Can you promote on r/DJs?

Self-promotion restricted Its rules restrict self-promotion. Posts that promote your own work are likely to be removed.

What this page is

This page quotes r/DJs's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-05. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/DJs's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion

Self-promotion (mix/track)
This subreddit is not for promoting your own tracks or mixes. Please post them in a genre-appropriate subreddit, if those subreddits allow such posts.
No "looking for DJ" posts
Psst! Heads up, party people! Just a friendly reminder: no sneakily slipping in those "Looking for a DJ" posts, shouting about open decks, or hunting down mix maestros to help you out. We know, we know, the temptation to plug your beats is real, but let's keep it on the down-low, okay? If you've got some sweet gigs to dish out, give your local DJ crew a holler. Let's keep the beats bumpin' without stepping on any toes!
All 13 rules of r/DJs
  1. Beginner post belongs in r/Beatmatch
/r/beatmatch is a subreddit that was created to help new DJs with basic questions and problems. Please use /r/beatmatch for any basic requests like "How do I get started DJing?" "What controller should I buy?" "How do I get gigs?" "Are these speakers good?" and so on.
  2. Against sub rules
  3. Spam
    Spam
  4. Self-promotion (mix/track)
This subreddit is not for promoting your own tracks or mixes. Please post them in a genre-appropriate subreddit, if those subreddits allow such posts.
  5. Specific track related/download/genre question
Here at r/DJs, we're big supporters of artists and firmly believe that being a DJ is a genuine craft. We also get hundreds of requests a year for tracks IDs, which makes the sub unmanageable & annoying for all. As such, requesting downloads of specific tracks, the ID of a track, similar sounding tracks, or tracks fitting a particular genre/gig is against sub rules and your post has been removed.
  6. How to get gigs (in a given city)
The majority of members on r/DJs are consistently seeking gigs. However, soliciting gigs within the subreddit is not the most effective approach. The tried-and-tested method for securing gigs involves frequenting the venue as a guest before pursuing a residency as a DJ.
  7. Topic that has been discussed before / low effort post
Welcome to /r/DJs! We're a friendly bunch here, always ready to lend a hand. But before you ask a question, please take a moment to search both Google and our subreddit to see if it's already been answered in the past year. This helps keep things fresh and avoids repetition. Thanks for your cooperation, and remember, repeated questions may be removed.
  8. No Polls without permission
Seems like polls are all the rage lately! If you're thinking of posting one, please send a friendly mod mail to ask for permission first. Polls posted without permission will be taken down. Thanks for understanding!
  10. Abusive/inappropriate behavior
Rule #1: BE NICE. Do not attack other users or unnecessarily incite drama/arguments/flame wars. Sexist/Racist/Homophobic or otherwise inappropriate comments will be removed per mod discretion.
  11. Suggesting/asking about pirating music or software
Suggesting pirate sites or asking about pirating music or software is a bannable offense
  12. Posts that rely on a link on social media and YouTube
Let’s keep r/DJs more than just a bunch of links. Posts that mostly rely on YouTube, Twitch, TikTok, Instagram, or Facebook links will be removed—unless there’s a really good reason—since not everyone hangs out on the same apps. It’s really up to the mods what counts as a 'good reason'.
  13. Posting Github Projects
To ensure the safety and quality of software shared within our community, all GitHub links are manually reviewed by the moderator team. If your project is relevant and safe, we will approve it as soon as possible. If you'd like to speed up the process or provide more context, please feel free to contact us via modmail.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
