All 10 rules of r/GelX_Nails
  1. No Misinformation
No misinformation, let’s keep things backed by science.
  2. Be Civil
Treat others with respect and kindness.
  3. No “is this an allergy?” posts
We are not medical professionals. We cannot diagnose. There are *tons* of allergy posts already, please search the subreddit (and the other gel subreddits as well). Here is some general info about acrylate allergy: https://dermnetnz.org/topics/allergy-to-acrylate If you suspect you’re having an allergic reaction, please remove your gel immediately. The next step is an allergy test from an allergist. It is not wise to keep exposing yourself to the allergen if it can be avoided.
  4. If you're asking a technical question, you must include the product list and steps in your post.
If you are looking to troubleshoot issues, please include a step by step list of what your entire process is in detail, and what products and equipment you are using.
  5. Do not ask for/give medical advice.
Do not ask for/diagnose others, or give medical advice. The users of this sub are not medical professionals and the moderators of this sub do not verify the professional status of any user. If you suspect you have an allergy or contact dermatitis, please refer to your doctor.
  6. Keep posts quality.
Refrain from low quality posting. This includes posting things like blurry photos, karma farming, posting with no details, spam posts, fetish posts, etc.
  7. Do not advise others to do anything other than see a doctor if they’ve had symptoms of dermatitis
Once contact dermatitis or allergic dermatitis is triggered, it is dangerous to continue to expose yourself to the allergen. In general, the reaction will get worse & worse. We can only recommend that people see a medical professional like an allergist or dermatologist to treat their health concern. An allergist can often help pinpoint which acrylates are a problem for you in particular. Avoiding HEMA is **not** a safe option. Acrylates are in *all* gel, acrylic, dip, air dry glue, & adhesives.
  8. Don’t be a creep.
Don’t be a creep. Sexualizing the content or the users of this subreddit through inappropriate comments, questions, posts, or direct messages will NOT be tolerated and will result in a permanent ban.
  9. No advertising
    No advertising.
  10. Read highlighted posts, search sub before posting
To cut down on constant posts asking the same questions, please read the highlighted posts and search the sub before posting. Tons of great info in this community.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
