What this page is

This page quotes r/hotels's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-06. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/hotels's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Welcome to r/Hotels! This is the place for questions, general information, and news about hotels and the wider industry. Whether you're looking for advice, sharing an experience, or keeping up with what's happening, you're in the right spot. Advertising, self-promotion, or soliciting the sale of points or bookings will result in a ban.

What its rules say about promotion

No Advertising or Self-Promotion
Posts advertising hotels, rental properties, booking websites, referral links, social media accounts, or any other commercial or self-promotional content will be removed.
No Buying/Selling Points or Reservations
Buying, selling, or transferring hotel loyalty points, award nights, or reservations between members is not allowed. These transactions violate most hotel program terms of service and expose both parties to account termination.
All 6 rules of r/hotels
  1. No Advertising or Self-Promotion
Posts advertising hotels, rental properties, booking websites, referral links, social media accounts, or any other commercial or self-promotional content will be removed.
  2. No Buying/Selling Points or Reservations
Buying, selling, or transferring hotel loyalty points, award nights, or reservations between members is not allowed. These transactions violate most hotel program terms of service and expose both parties to account termination.
  3. No Cross-Posting Without Context
No blanket cross-posting without a written post if you want to link back
  4. No "Academic Research" Posts
Posts soliciting survey responses, academic research participation, or thesis/dissertation data collection are not permitted; please use a more appropriate subreddit for your study.
  5. Moderator Discretion
Posts may be removed at the moderator's discretion, even if they don't break a specific rule. This includes (but not limited to) content that doesn't fit the community's vibe, doesn't add anything productive to the conversation, or is overly hostile toward a person, business, or place.
  6. English Posts Only
The moderation team only speaks English, so all posts must be written in this language to keep them reviewable.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
