All 9 rules of r/LearnerDriverUK
- DON'T be a dick - be respectful
Of course you are allowed to have opinions and views, but this needs to be done in a polite non-judgemental way. Please keep comments respectful. If you disagree, avoid using personal insults or put-downs and politely explain your reasoning. - I failed my test
We know that being unsuccessful in a test can be incredibly frustrating. It is okay to vent about your experience, but please follow this guidance: - Ask for advice if you do not understand any of the faults. - Try to be as clear as possible when describing faults, so the community can give better advice. - Keep your post focused on what you want to learn from the experience. - Complaints about examiners should be directed to the pinned post at the top of the subreddit instead. - Instructor/examiner complaints
Posts which are only to complain about an examiner or instructor should be directed to the pinned posts at the top of the sub. We appreciate it can be frustrating if you believe your instructor or examiner has not been acting professionally, and we have pinned posts which can help you deal with this. See these posts for specific advice about reporting unprofessional behaviour. - No "How much should I be charged for test day" type posts
Instructors can charge what they want as they are self employed. We consider it best practice for instructors to warn pupils of fees well in advance. Commonly, instructors will charge 2-3 hours normal rate, or maybe a small amount extra on top of the normal cost. If your instructor charges *significantly* more than the above, or lets you know at the last minute, or uses excuses like extra insurance, we think this is not best practice. Your options are negotiate, accept, or refuse. - No upselling tests

If your post is suspected of being a Karma farming post, engagement bait or you're practicing your creative writing skills, it will be removed. There are plenty of other sub-reddits for that, this is an advice one. - Private Practice Passes
Private Practice Passes must now include the amount of hours it took them to pass their test. The poster must refrain from using phrases such as; "everyone should do this", or "if I can do it everyone can"
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
