What this page is

This page quotes r/lostmedia's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-07. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/lostmedia's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

For the discussion of lost media, and the searches for them.

All 6 rules of r/lostmedia
  1. Remember the human
We aim to have a welcoming and fun community, so please remain respectful of each other. Sexism, racism, LGBT-phobia, personal attacks, doxing, harassment, hate speech, etc are not tolerated. This is a place we would like EVERYONE to feel welcome, as such violation of this will result in a warning followed by a ban.
  2. This subreddit is for lost media ONLY. No unidentified media allowed.
All posts should be relevant to discussions of known documented* lost media. [For more info on what is lost media, see our wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/lostmedia/wiki/whatislostmedia/). *”Documented" meaning at least one other anecdotal sighting, a record of it existing, or other people searching. No unidentified media allowed.
  3. The subreddit is not your personal army
We are not here to help you find something (r/helpmefind), to name something (r/tipofmytongue, r/namethatsong), or help you pirate something. Please look [into other communities](https://www.reddit.com/r/lostmedia/wiki/resourcehub/) for these services as we are for lost media only.
  4. Low effort
High-quality posts are often posts where the person has done their homework and research. A summary of the media in question, allowing people to become familiar with it and the case without having to leave reddit for that information. This can include dates such as when it was lost or made, who made it, and the current situation. Don’t presume the reader is already aware prior to the post. [More here, this sub has a 150+ word count](https://www.reddit.com/r/lostmedia/wiki/postguidelines/).
  5. NSFW & NSFL media
The following types of media are banned on the subreddit: - 'Police evidence', or illegal media. - Media which contains harm to animals. - Includes harm/exploitation of minors. - Sexually explicit media without the persons consent. >"We understand that sometimes there are reasons to post NSFL/W media, so should you do so please ensure that you provide **clear** context to the reader, so the reason for such post is clear." Remember to handle this with respect, that these are people too.
  6. No political, current affairs, or religious discussion
No discussing/debating politics, religion, or current news worthy affairs. Suppose someone asks for lost media related to these subjects. In that case, you may discuss things related to the media's existence, but do not discuss/debate about the political, current affairs, or religious, message.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
