Can you promote on r/mathematics?

Allowed, with limits Its rules allow sharing your own work, with conditions they spell out.

What this page is

This page quotes r/mathematics's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-05. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/mathematics's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

r/mathematics is a subreddit dedicated to focused questions and discussion concerning mathematics.

What its rules say about promotion

Self Promotion
Only on Saturdays, content-based (and only content based) self-promotion may be allowed e.g., good quality and interesting articles, videos etc. Each user is entitled to make one and only one such post per week. Moderator discretion will apply. All other kinds of self-promotion and all self-promotion on any other day is subject to removal.
All 6 rules of r/mathematics
  1. No Homework-type Problems
This is a sub for discussing mathematics and asking questions about concepts and ideas. Asking for help with homework-type problems, practice problems, and similar questions are outside its scope. There are other subreddits available for these types of requests: r/mathhelp, r/learnmath, r/askmath, etc
  2. Be Nice
We want to encourage civil discourse. Be nice and excellent to each other.
  4. No Helping With Homework
Helping with homework encourages people to not do it themselves and helps in breaking rule 1.
  5. Keep Information Quality High / Stay On-topic
Low quality info / crankery / "bad mathematics" / spam / off-topic submissions are not allowed. We encourage users to keep information quality high and stay on topic (math related).
  6. Attempted solutions to famous open problems
Attempts at solving famous open problems (for example, the Collatz conjecture) will be removed on sight, unless they are submitted to the mega-thread.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
