No Advertisements
r/Mercari was not created for the use of advertisements, or for making posts that would incite them. This includes any sort of advertisement of shop links, product links, referral links, social media links, or other external links. This includes information gathering (such as market research, surveys, feedback, etc.). Do not try to bypass this by misrepresenting yourself or the purpose of the post/comment. This subreddit was created to help Mercari app users with inquiries.

- Censorship
Listing titles, listing descriptions, listing images, buyer usernames, seller usernames, Mercari rep names, tracking information, profile pics, and any other identifying information must be censored out in screenshots or posts. Generic information must also be censored. Partial censorship attempts are not allowed. Any information not fully redacted will result in the removal of your thread. This is enforced according to Reddit’s TOS. - No Advertisements
r/Mercari was not created for the use of advertisements, or for making posts that would incite them. Do not ask to be DM’d the usernames of other Mercari users. This includes the OP, the information that has been redacted in the post, or other commenters. Do not ask for a link to the product that a post is about. It is redacted for a reason. Do not try to undercut these rules - they are in place for a reason. We do not allow “In search of” posts. - No Harassments / Brigading / Doxing
Do not encourage the harassment or brigading of any individual, group, or community. Do not dox someone’s information for any reason. Disagreements and downvoting are not considered harassment. Name calling and derogatory language is considered harassment and will be removed. No personal attacks, bullying, hate speech, or threats of any kind. - No "Is this a scam?" Posts
Posts that inquire about “Is this a scam?” will be removed. If you have to ask if it’s a scam because it looks sketchy for any reason, then our suggestion is to avoid it. Phone numbers in bios, on listing descriptions, or sent in DMs on Mercari to take transactions off platform are drawing you in to be scammed. Items with prices that are “too good to be true” may also be scams. Messages pretending to be from Mercari directing you off app are scams. Mercari will not contact you that way. - No Low-Effort / Spam
Please be sure to search up key terms in the subreddit search bar, check the FAQs guide in the About section or Welcome Hub, or review information in the rules before making a post. Do not post about seller bios, low-ball offers, "Why was my account banned?", or new accounts with 0 feedback. Double posts are not allowed. Posts that do not contain additional context in the body text with a generic title will be removed. Update posts are allowed, but do not post about every minor milestone. - No Fraudulent Activity
Any posts/comments made that regard bypassing the TOS of Mercari or are considerably illegal situations will be removed and a temporary ban issued. This may include, but is not limited to: buying accounts (either from an active user or someone deceased), avoiding taxes and how to do it, or creating a second account (for whatever reason). - Technical Issues
If you are experiencing technical issues on Mercari, such as being unable to input card/address information, please be sure to contact the Mercari support team first. Our subreddit is not equipped with Mercari staff that could help you. We opt to remove posts with technical issues as a result of potentially wrong information being presented. You can contact Mercari support at **contact@mercari.com** first. All resources are available on the right sidebar of the subreddit. - 1099/Tax Discussions
Any questions about 1099s and taxes must be asked in the monthly questions thread, which is pinned at the top of the subreddit. Questions that regard asking for specific tax advice will be removed. Our subreddit users cannot answer specific things like, “How much will my taxes be with ‘x’ amount of gross sales?” when it comes to tax related scenarios. You must consult with an accountant about your own personal situation. - Milestone Posts
Milestone posts are allowed in the subreddit, but only when that milestone is reached. - Multiple Rule Violations
For content that violates multiple rules at once, use this as a reason for reporting. This rule is also set place as a reason towards bans if a user has violated different sets of rules rather than just one singular rule.
