Can you promote on r/midi?

Self-promotion restricted Its rules restrict self-promotion. Posts that promote your own work are likely to be removed.

What this page is

This page quotes r/midi's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-06. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/midi's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO SEEK OR SHARE STANDARD MIDI SONG FILES. Doing so will result in a ban. This MIDI sub is for discussions, questions and general knowledge about the Musical Instrument Digital Interface specification and its implementations.

What its rules say about promotion

NO SPAM! NO PROMOTION!
All 6 rules of r/midi
  1. DON'T request or share Standard MIDI song files!
There are many places for this. That's not why this sub exists. You will be banned.
  2. Help for computer to/from MIDI device problem.
If you've having a computer to/from MIDI device problem, please let us know what interface you're using. It's necessary information to help you. Most cheap MIDI-to-USB interfaces (MIDI to USB cables) just don't work. Here’s couple that are known to be good: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00967UN50 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00007JRBM
  3. Try to stay on topic.
We'll likely help no matter what your issue but asking about particular Soundfonts and VSTis isn't about MIDI. There are subs for all the other issues that are not MIDI specific. Please use those for off topic posts.
  4. NO SPAM! NO PROMOTION!
  5. There’s no such thing as “a MIDI”.
There’s no such thing as “a MIDI”. What you’re typically referring to may be one of two things: a MIDI controller, a device that makes no sound of its own but sends MIDI commands to another device; or a MIDI capable instrument that both generates MIDI data and generates sounds.
  6. Wrong answers will be removed.
It’s amazing how many people will give an answer when they haven’t a clue.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
