Can you promote on r/MysteryDungeon?

Allowed, with limits Its rules allow sharing your own work, with conditions they spell out.

What this page is

This page quotes r/MysteryDungeon's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-05. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/MysteryDungeon's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

For all of us brave explorers and adventurers.

What its rules say about promotion

Keep posts creative or discussion-stimulating
A post should either promote productive discussion or showcase creative work. Examples of common violations include: - In-game screenshots about overdone or mundane topics - Vague questions without elaboration - "Low-effort" memes that do not require a significant amount of work or creative input to make. However, low-effort memes are allowed on Sundays (UTC), limited to **two per user**. See the [content policy](/r/MysteryDungeon/wiki/contentpolicy) for more information.
All 9 rules of r/MysteryDungeon
  1. Be nice.
Be respectful to others at all times. Do not attack others for their opinions or otherwise act in a way that would make a reasonable person feel unwelcome. See the [content policy](/r/MysteryDungeon/wiki/contentpolicy) for more information.
  2. Mark spoilers.
Flair submissions with the appropriate spoiler flair. **No spoilers in titles.** Comments with spoilers must be tagged: ```>!It's a Monster House!!<``` becomes >!It's a Monster House!!<. A spoiler is any plot detail that takes place after: - Whiscash tells the Ninetales legend in Red/Blue Rescue Team - "Chapter 9: The Mystery of Fogbound Lake" in Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky - the Great Glacier appears in Gates to Infinity - "Chapter 13: Across the Sea" in Super
  3. Flair your posts.
Every submission must be assigned with the flair that best describes it. You can flair a post by selecting the "flair" option before or after posting. Use "All Games" and "ALL GAMES SPOILERS" for posts about more than one game in the Mystery Dungeon series, "Misc" for posts about miscellaneous (but relevant) topics, and "Meta" for posts about the subreddit itself. See the [content policy](/r/MysteryDungeon/wiki/contentpolicy) for more information on flair usage.
  4. Credit creators appropriately.
When sharing original content that is not yours, credit the content creator in the comments or in the post itself. If you cannot find the original creator, clearly indicate this in your submission. When crediting a creator, do not link to shops or other platforms meant for revenue generation. Such links involve direct monetary interests and should be shared through private messages, rather than on the r/MysteryDungeon.
  5. Search before asking.
Before submitting a question, check the [resources on the wiki](/r/MysteryDungeon/wiki/index) and use the subreddit search bar. [General FAQ](/r/MysteryDungeon/wiki/faq) [Rescue Team DX FAQ](/r/MysteryDungeon/wiki/rtdxfaq) If you expect your question to have a simple, objective answer, try searching for it yourself before making a post. See the [content policy](/r/MysteryDungeon/wiki/contentpolicy) for more information.
  6. Use the megathread when appropriate.
Some topics should only be discussed in the Rescue/Help Megathread stickied to the subreddit's front page, and not in separate posts: - **Rescue requests**. You can ask for a rescue in the current megathread or in the [Discord server](https://discord.gg/mysterydungeon). - **Simple questions**. E.g., yes-or-no questions, or ones with short/shallow answers. See the [content policy](https://www.reddit.com/r/MysteryDungeon/wiki/contentpolicy) for more on what constitutes a "simple question".
  7. No illegal or NSFW content
Do not post or comment anything illegal or NSFW (not safe for work). Furthermore, do not post direct references to NSFW content, even if the post itself is SFW (safe for work).
  9. No spamming
Do not spam the feed with insignificant updates. Examples of common violations include: - Many art pieces posted in quick succession. These should instead be shared as an image gallery. - Repeated installments of a serially released work like a video series, written story, or comic. r/MysteryDungeon is not your personal update feed. A good rule of thumb is to share only the first and last parts. See the [content policy](/r/MysteryDungeon/wiki/contentpolicy) for more information.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
