PHONK: An underground style of hip-hop/trap music directly inspired by 90s Memphis rap, mostly present on soundcloud as trill style beats with old funk and nostalgic samples, often accompanied by vocals from old Memphis rap tapes.

Low Effort Self-Promo
Self-Promo is only allowed in combination with some form of visuals. Self-Promo that only has a link will be removed. ✅ Visualizers / Music Videos ✅ DAW Screenrecordings ❌ Link + Check out my new track!!! This applies mainly to promoting your own music. For edgecases feel free to dm mods.

  1. Must be related to Phonk music
    All Posts must be Phonk related (OG Memphis or Cloud phonk). Newer more aggressive offshoots like drift and brazilian funk have their own subreddits.
  2. Low Effort Self-Promo

  3. Use correct post flairs
    We want to respect and keep true to the authentic Phonk this subreddit was made for, so please make sure you tagged your post with the correct flair. If you're not sure which flair to use or if you are in the right subreddit, check out the videos linked in the "Learn more about Phonk" widget.
  4. Spam
    Spamming of any type will be removed and result in a ban.
  5. Brazilian Funk / Drift House ≠ Phonk
    Brazilian “Phonk” / Funk and drift house originated in OG phonk but very different genres popularized on tiktok. Common elements and name mean they are often confused. These have their own subreddits and posts here related to them will be removed with repeated offenses or trolling/brigading resulting in a ban.
  6. No AI, Machine Learning Music. No AI album artwork without mod permission.
    There is already an ocean of content for laypeople to discover real phonk producers and rappers. We do not need to add to the noise with artificial intelligence. Please post your AI music elsewhere.
  7. Don’t be a dick, troll, or constantly complain
    Self explanatory
  8. No social media drama/callout posts
    No discord/twitter(X)/insta/tiktok callout/drama posts targeting specific individuals
