What this page is
This page quotes r/pkmntcg's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-04. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/pkmntcg's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

What its rules say about promotion
Include content in reddit post alongside links
Whether linking to your own off-reddit content or someone else's, there must be enough content in the reddit post for anyone to join in the conversation in a meaningful way without having clicked through. Please see our [guidelines on self-promotion](https://www.reddit.com/r/pkmntcg/wiki/rules#wiki_6._please_review_our_guidelines_on_self-promotion.) for more information and examples of appropriate information to include in the reddit post.
No self-promotional posts without content
We want all posts to generate discussion. Announcing or promoting your website, store, or YouTube channel does not lead to meaningful discussion. Please review our [self-promotion guidelines](https://www.reddit.com/r/pkmntcg/wiki/rules#wiki_6._please_review_our_guidelines_on_self-promotion.) for further explanation Posts that exist primarily to advertise or use the subreddit as a classifieds section, especially from accounts that do not participate here, will be removed at mod's discretion
All 9 rules of r/pkmntcg
- Treat each other well
Discussion is encouraged and disagreement is welcome, but we can do so in a civil way that helps our members learn and grow as players, collectors, and fans. This also means that personal attacks, hateful and biased language, and general nonsense are not welcome here. - Do not post pulls or purchases
Head over to /r/pkmntcgcollections to post pulls and share your collection when there isn't an appropriate pulls thread here, or post in either of the weekend sticky threads (Social Saturday or Shopping Sunday). - Posts asking for deck lists will be removed
We’re always happy to help you improve a deck, give suggestions, or answer questions about cards and strategies. However, posts that simply ask others to provide a complete deck list will be removed. If you’re looking for inspiration or examples of current competitive decks, we recommend checking out established community resources such as: • https://limitlesstcg.com/ • https://pokecabook.com/ (Japanese event archive) • https://pokemoncard.io/ - Include content in reddit post alongside links

There is a dedicated subreddit for trades and sales, /r/pkmntcgtrades. The system of trade posts, flair, and references there helps protect users from scammers. We strongly encourage all users to make use of that subreddit and do not want to enable anyone who may be attempting to circumvent their system (to claim someone else's references, to hide from a skull flair, to avoid informing the other party about PayPal G&S or the option of middlemen, etc). - Post quick questions in the Questions sticky
We understand that many people come to our subreddit to have their questions answered, and do not orient themselves with the system we have in place before posting. For quick questions, especially for basic rulings, please use the Questions sticky. A stand-alone post with a basic question displaces deck help and other discussion posts. - Read the FAQ before posting
Our wiki contains fairly extensive resources, frequently asked questions, and links for new and new-ish players. Please take a look to see if the information you need is already there before posting. In addition, the search function is helpful to get answers and advice instantly. Google is also your friend. Posts with questions/topics already covered in the wiki/FAQ may be removed. - No 'low quality' posts
Please avoid posting content that lacks substance, is overly repetitive, or doesn't contribute constructively to discussions. This includes meme posts, rants, questions about how much your cards are worth, or any content that does not encourage active discussion within the subreddit.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
