Can you promote on r/SearchAPIs?

Self-promotion restricted Its rules restrict self-promotion. Posts that promote your own work are likely to be removed.

What this page is

This page quotes r/SearchAPIs's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-06. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/SearchAPIs's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion

No Spam or Excessive Promotion
Don't use the subreddit primarily to promote an API, company, product, service, or project. Sharing your own API is allowed when it contributes meaningfully to a discussion, but promotional posts may be removed.
All 5 rules of r/SearchAPIs
  1. Stay On Topic
Posts must relate to search APIs, search infrastructure, API-powered search, or building applications with search providers. Discussions about unrelated APIs, general programming, or generic AI tools may be removed.
  2. Technical Discussions Are Encouraged
Questions, comparisons, benchmarks, integrations, implementation experiences, troubleshooting, and technical discussions are welcome. When asking for help, provide enough context for others to understand the problem.
  3. No Spam or Excessive Promotion
Don't use the subreddit primarily to promote an API, company, product, service, or project. Sharing your own API is allowed when it contributes meaningfully to a discussion, but promotional posts may be removed.
  4. No Misleading Comparisons or Benchmarks
Don't manipulate benchmarks, pricing comparisons, feature comparisons, or performance claims to make a provider look better or worse. Include relevant methodology and context when sharing test results.
  5. Moderators Have Final Say
Moderators may remove content that doesn't fit the purpose of r/SearchAPIs, even when it doesn't violate a rule word-for-word. Rules may be updated as the community develops.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
