Can you promote on r/slp?

Allowed, with limits Its rules allow sharing your own work, with conditions they spell out.

What this page is

This page quotes r/slp's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-05. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/slp's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about promotion

Don't self-promote, crowd-source, spam, or troll.
Don't use this subreddit to sell your products or promote your store, blog, website, or other media. Don't use this subreddit to gain feedback about a product or service that you are developing.
Only Academic Research is Allowed
If you wish to promote your study, please clearly state who you are and which university you are affiliated with. We advise against having QR codes without also having a link as most of our traffic comes from mobile users.
All 10 rules of r/slp
  1. Remember reddiquette.
  2. No diagnosis or treatment.
SLPs can talk about language, development, and the field in general, but cannot diagnose or treat in this subreddit.
  3. No recruiters ever. Seriously. Never.
  4. Don't self-promote, crowd-source, spam, or troll.
Don't use this subreddit to sell your products or promote your store, blog, website, or other media. Don't use this subreddit to gain feedback about a product or service that you are developing.
  5. Grad school posts belong on r/slpgradschool or r/gradschool.
Posts about grad school applications, current grad school experiences, academics, the praxis exam, and posts of that nature should be posted on r/slpgradschool or r/gradschool. Posts from SLPs reflecting on their grad school experiences, discussing systemic issues that impact the field, etc, are allowed and should have a "post-grad thoughts" flair.
  6. Do your own homework, students.
No homework topics. This includes posting assignments, asking for ideas, requesting resources, or clarifying coursework.
  7. Posts about becoming an SLPA belong on r/speechassistant or r/SLPA
  8. No Brigading or Harassment
Brigading is when a person posts a link to another subreddit, encouraging either directly or indirectly for people to go to the other group and harass them. This behavior is against Reddit's TOS and will not be tolerated here either.
  9. Only Academic Research is Allowed
If you wish to promote your study, please clearly state who you are and which university you are affiliated with. We advise against having QR codes without also having a link as most of our traffic comes from mobile users.
  10. No images or videos of minors
Faces of minors must be blurred or obstructed in photos and videos.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
