What its rules say about promotion
No Islamophobia or Qabyaalad (clannism)
This subreddit has zero tolerance for Islamophobic content, anti-Muslim rhetoric, or any form of hate speech targeting Islam or its followers. Additionally, promoting, endorsing, or engaging in Qabyaalad (clannism) or divisive clan-based rhetoric will result in strict action, including immediate bans. This is a community for unity and constructive discussion, not division or hate.
All 9 rules of r/Somalia
- Be Respectful and Civil
Be polite and empathic to others, have constructive discussions and refrain from using unpleasant or insulting language. It is okay to disagree, but keep it civil. Remember to report any instances of disrespectful behavior, ensuring a safe and welcoming space for all. Violation of this rule may result in ban. - No Baiting or Trolling
To maintain a productive and respectful environment, refrain from engaging in excessive, non-factual arguments, insults or posting provocative content. It also involves deceptive practices like creating false identities or spreading misinformation to misguide or confuse others. Violation of this rule will result in ban, potentially without warning. - Reason why your post may have been removed
Don't message the mods if your post doesn't appear immediately. New accounts are subject to review by the Automoderator bot. Wait for approval. - No Spam and Low-Effort Content
No excessive submissions in a short time. Spam on posts or comments will be deleted without notification or warning. Low-effort content consists of posts that are created quickly and do not contribute to a discussion. Posts that have already been posted previously also apply here. Low-effort content will be removed without notification or warning. - Avoid Off-Topic and Unrelated Content
Submissions should be relevant to Somalia or its people. Exceptions may be made for specific occasions/events. Avoid derailing discussions or introducing unrelated content. Stay focused on the original topic and avoid introducing unrelated subjects that divert the conversation. - Editorializing Titles
Do not alter article titles, if they have one. If the title is not informative enough, then make up a non-sensationalist title and put it between [brackets.] Only exception being for translated articles, in which case be faithful to the original title. - No Islamophobia or Qabyaalad (clannism)
- Follow Reddit's Terms of Service and Reddiquette
All users must adhere to Reddit's official Terms of Service and Reddiquette. Any violations may result in post removals, warnings, or bans at moderator discretion. - No non-reputable sources
Do not post content from unreliable sources, such as anonymous Twitter users, fake news websites, or unverified rumors. Posts that spread misinformation or unverifiable claims will be removed. However, posts from reputable sources, including established journalists and recognized news outlets, are permitted.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
