r/travel is a community about exploring the world. Your pictures, questions, stories, or any good content is welcome. Please read the rules, pinned announcements and the wiki/FAQ before posting. Failure to do so may result in a removal or ban. Given the high volume of posts, there are no warnings given out. If you've never contributed positively to this subreddit (or travel-adjacent subreddits) before being banned, your chance of a successful appeal to any ban is nearly zero. Happy travels!

No clickbait, blogspam, self-promotion, personal requests, trading, selling, or begging,
Clickbait, spam, memes/jokes, ads, brochures, surveys, market research (even for free sites/apps), side projects, vlogs, blogs, FB/IGs, tiktoks, AMAs, requesting DMs or meetups, or other [self-promotion](http://www.reddit.com/wiki/selfpromotion) and social media will be removed and banned, including any disguised as genuine discussion. Everyday news articles or announcements are not accepted. No hashtags, diary entries/essays, missed connections, selling, bartering, trading, or begging.
No spam
While simple posts or links to gear or sites does not necessarily constitute advertising, avoid posting just for promotional or marketing purposes. Instagram style submissions with hashtags will be removed. Posts that are solely complaints/rants from accounts that have no prior engagement will not be approved in order to prevent the sub from being mainly for complaints, especially those that may be inaccurate.

Tell us where you're starting, dates of travel, budget, interests, places you've been, things you like and dislike when asking for advice. Flight and airfare help: provide exact dates of travel, cities/airports, airlines, flight numbers, booking portal or ticketing agency (OTA or directly with airline). **Visa and passport questions: state your country of citizenship.** All mystery countries, cities, airports, airlines, citizenships/passports, and algebra problems will be removed. - Check Google or direct source before posting
Check to see if your question can be answered with a quick Google search or call the airline, hotel, embassy, or other direct sources. Show your research and cite your sources if what you found was not clear. - Absolutely no AI
ChatGPT and AI usage is strictly against the rules. This includes: posting AI content, referencing or citing AI sources, or suggesting the use of AI. The sub is designed for discussion, advice and experiences from actual humans. This includes posting a rewritten or proofread version done by AI, asking the community to review or validate your AI-generated itinerary. There is no distinction between AI-generated fiction and real events rewritten by AI - hence the blanket ban. - No low effort posts
Questions should include the research already conducted - please read the [/r/travel wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/travel/wiki/index). If you are asking for itinerary, airfare, price, routing help - **you must present at least two options.** No Crystal Ball 🔮 - no questions about predictions - flight price changes, carry-on checks, weather forecasts, changes in safety and security of destinations, etc. We are not your travel agents. - No racism, trolling, bad conduct or politics
Keep it civil: no racism, insults, flagrant disrespect to places/countries, or stereotyping. No bad conduct, illegal activity, or how to break the rules. Extended (political or off-topic) arguments will result in a ban for everyone involved. Do not insert yourself into an off-topic argument even if you feel you are on the "moral" side.
