What its rules say about promotion

Spam Policy
Although we are supportive of independent creators, business, and educational efforts, due to abuse of our previous policies, we no longer allow self promotion in this subreddit. Posting links to your YouTube channel, podcast, blog, survey, product, app, etc may result in content removal, warnings, or a ban from this subreddit.
App Spam
As of 25-March, 2025, this subreddit no longer allows app developers to use this subreddit to promote their work in any way. Our previous spam policy has been abused repeatedly by a seemingly endless number of accounts and as such, we are no longer having polite conversations with developers about our rules. Accounts engaged in self-promotion of their app will be permanently banned from participating in this subreddit.

  1. Content Moderation
This subreddit is actively moderated. A volunteer moderator will review your submission and approve the content if relevant to the sub.
  2. User Flair
User Flair is required in order to submit new posts and comment in this subreddit. Exception: The Daily Dirt thread welcomes flaired and unflared Redditors. How to set up flair: https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/205242695-How-do-I-get-user-flair
  3. Stay On Topic
Posts and comments should be related to growing vegetables. When a post uses the **Question** flair, top-level comments must offer direct, relevant advice or solutions. Unhelpful replies—including jokes, off-topic commentary, or blind speculation—are subject to removal. Repeated violations may result in a ban.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
