01 · Before setup

Choose the result you need.

The reusable toolkit runs on your computer through a compatible Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex client. Your AI service is separate. Keep that client and the connected Chrome available while the job runs. A phone or browser-only chat can read this guide and your library, but cannot run the local tools.

02 · Install once

Use the path for your client.

Your private library supplies the current installer. Keep its link and install command private: they contain your paid access token. You do not need to paste a password, API key or exported browser cookies into ThreadFox.

03 · Connect your account

Make sure your AI sees the right Chrome.

1. Open Chrome on the same computer and sign in to the Reddit account you intend to use.
2. Add Microsoft’s Playwright Extension to that Chrome. ThreadFox’s included Reddit tools use this connection.
3. In your AI client, after installation, type:

set up ThreadFox

The setup runs threadfox_doctor to check the tools, browser connection and Reddit sign-in. On the first connection, click the Playwright Extension icon and choose a tab when prompted. Repeating the command cannot replace that first human click.

The pass check: the tools work and your AI reports the Reddit username you intended. If it reports another account, stop and correct the browser session before authorizing a post.

04 · Give it direction

Your business facts become its working brief.

Tell your AI what you sell, who benefits, your website, claims you can support and how you normally write. Give it an objective and a limit: one product, a defined audience and one first job. Leave customer information and credentials out of the brief.

Use ThreadFox for [product and website]. It helps [audience] do [specific useful thing]. These are the facts you may claim: [facts]. Write in this voice: [short example].

Find a relevant Reddit conversation or a permitted community route. Read the post, replies and current rules, including AI and promotion restrictions. Explain the fit. Prepare one useful contribution using my facts and truthful affiliation.

Take this through publishing with the required permissions: show the exact text, account and destination when approval is needed, publish once after authorization, verify the result and record its link. If no route is eligible, explain why. If a send is uncertain, reconcile it before trying again.

This starts a bounded job in your AI session. It does not enable an ongoing campaign or a background schedule. A source-linked opportunity and a real published permalink are different stages; the agent should report which one it reached.

05 · Run the job

The AI does the work in Reddit.

1. Research. Your AI reads relevant conversations and each community’s current rules. It checks account and access constraints before choosing a route. A large audience is not automatically a permitted audience.
2. Write and publish. It creates a contribution for the actual conversation, uses the required flair or format, and publishes through your signed-in Chrome. Keep the client’s permission prompts enabled. Replies to discovered conversations require approval of the exact words; a broad business brief is not a substitute.
3. Verify and record. Ask for the published permalink and the observed result. The local ledger records attempts so the next session can check what already happened. Seeing a comment while signed in does not establish that everyone can see it.
4. Follow through. In the same authorized job, or when you ask it to continue, your AI checks substantive replies and handles the permitted next step. It should stop on a restriction, a request to stop or an unresolved send, rather than repeating outreach.

Use a simple outcome note: what was published, what response was observed, and whether someone completed the useful action you wanted. Views and visits are not customers; if signup, use or payment evidence is unavailable, leave it unknown.

06 · When a step stops

Fix the specific blocker.
