We do not allow codes to be posted. We do not allow people to ask for codes. Digital codes are not allowed. This is an instant ban for people going into DMs, or comments. We do not allow users to post affiliate links for financial gain. If you are planning to post a deal, please post the direct merchant link and not one that earns commission. This sub takes a hard stance against unsubstantiated rumors, false information, misrepresentation, and flat-out lies regarding 4K releases, equipment, etc. As such, we may remove posts that do not link to or provide a reputable source and/or are obviously fabricated. This also includes AI-generated posts, comments, or images. Along this line, we do not allow posts from VHSDVDBLURAY4K (aka The DiscFather, GeekGab).

  1. Treat Others With Respect & Have Fun!
    The Golden Rule: Treat others how you would like to be treated. It's really that simple. This rule also encompasses spamming and trolling, which are not tolerated in this sub. Please report harassment to the mod team. Arguing or spiteful behavior as a retort to others could also earn you a warning or ban.
  2. Keep The Discussion on 4K UHD Movies & Equipment
    This sub is strictly focused on 4K Ultra HD Blu-rays. There are other subs that focus on DVD/Blu-Ray collecting if that's your particular interest. Non-relevant posts & comments will be removed. For our purposes: PlayStation, Xbox, and other video game consoles are NOT considered accompanying tech. They are gaming consoles that just happen to play movies; rumors related to consoles are not a fit here. News regarding consoles that is specifically movie-related may be allowed on a per-case basis
  3. No Screenshots of Order Pages/Pre-Order Pages or Cataloging/Library Apps or Shipping Posts.
    We do not allow screenshots of your new orders/pre-orders, or of cataloging apps or digital libraries. Please wait until your new items have arrived and take a photo/make a post of the actual item. For vendors: Only vendors that offer only movies or similar products can have complaints or questions posted if they’re not already answered. This avoids clutter. No shipping damage posts, or related stuff. Take that to the vendor.
  4. Check The Mega Hub For Popular Topics

    Politics, "doom & gloom" news, or unrelated karma farming are prohibited in this sub. If you have questions regarding this rule, please reach out to the mods.
  9. Collection Posts Belong in the Pinned Megathread
    All full collection pictures (including "rate my collection", "what does my collection say about me, etc.") posts should be made in the pinned monthly megathread topic pinned to the top of the sub. This megathread is refreshed monthly.
  10. No Wish Lists/Most Wanted Titles/"Any Chance" Posts
    Wish lists, most-wanted upgrades/releases, "what are the chances of XYZ getting a release?" etc. should be posted in the link in our Mega Hub, pinned to the top of the page. You can also find the link directly to the post here: https://tinyurl.com/mostwanted4ktitles
  11. Haul/Pickup/Collection posts must be at least 50% 4K UHD
    All haul, pickup, or collection pictures must be at least 50% 4K UHDs. If the post is mostly Blu-ray or DVD, it will be removed.
  12. No Slipcover Debates
    Some people like them. Some don't. The topic of slipcovers is not related specifically to 4K UHD, and will no longer be allowed. This includes posts such as "what do you do with your slipcovers?" where you can find slipcovers for specific titles, or if a title has a slipcover.
  13. No Discussion of Piracy
    Discussions related to the pirating of films is not allowed in the sub. This includes "custom releases" (such as Star Wars 4K77), bootlegs, and internet piracy/illegal streaming.
  14. Orders/Shipping
    Damaged orders, boxes arriving messed up. Order updates. Etc.Do not belong here. Contact the seller directly. Thank you.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
