What this page is

This page quotes r/abusiverelationships's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-07. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/abusiverelationships's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

For anyone of any gender identity who has ever been in an abusive relationship or is currently in one. This is a place for people to vent, share their stories and offer support to others in similar situations. Anyone who has experienced an abusive situation or relationship is welcome - that includes romantic, intimate, sexual, spousal, coworker, family, and/or friendship relationships.

All 11 rules of r/abusiverelationships
  1. No Witch Hunting/Posting Personal Information
Please do not post identifying information in an attempt to dox someone. This could place you at risk, and the other members of this sub as well as potentially get our sub in trouble with Reddit sitewide admins. Doxxing is a violation of reddit's terms of service.
  2. Be Kind/No Victim Blaming
Oftentimes people who post here have been, or are going through, hard things and are here for support or to support others. Name-calling, trolling, and hate speech are not okay. Abuse is NEVER the survivor's fault and there is nothing they 'did' to deserve it. Suggesting otherwise *will result in a permanent ban*.
  3. Respect People's Privacy
Do not post anything that can allow someone in, or formerly in, an abusive relationship to be identified in real life. There are abusers out there who will hurt the person if they know they are seeking help or support, and people who are trying to ensure their former abuser does not find them. Please make sure nothing you are posting will put someone at risk. If you are posting about a friend/family member, it is a good idea to change their name or use acronyms for security.
  4. No Abuser Posts
This sub is a place for victims of abuse to post. As such we do not allow posts from abusers. Even if its about how you are trying to change and get better, there are other places for that. If you are an abuser looking for a place to post, try r/SelfImprovement or r/DecidingToBeBetter
  5. No Advocating Violence
This should go without saying, but advocating violence is a bannable offence. We know you may feel that someone's abuser deserves to be punched in the face (and they probably do), but encouraging violence is *not* allowed here. This includes, but is not limited to, advising someone to do something that could cause harm to another person.
  6. No Misogyny
If you use gendered slurs for women, you will be banned. If you espouse some version of "all women are always believed when they are abused," you will be banned. If you endorse any hatred of women, you will be banned. If you derail women's posts about misogyny, you will be banned.
  7. No Derailing
No derailing the conversation with "What about XYZ" and other remarks of the sort. The comments are a place to support and lend a listening ear. Commenting things like "But not all men do that!" is unhelpful and against the rules.
  8. No Soliciting or asking for money
Links to established organizations and hotlines are fine, but if you need financial assistance or help with food, go to r/assistance or r/borrow. Posting or commenting here with links to a GoFundMe or Venmo will result in an permaban.
  9. No Research or Survey Requests
Research and survey requests on domestic violence and abuse will not be considered nor allowed for posting. Such requests are significant safety concerns and no exceptions will be granted.
  10. No Diagnosing

  11. No Claiming That Only Women Can Be Abused and Only Men Can Be Abusive:
Enough said. While abuse disproportionately impacts women from abusive men, it is not limited to women as victims. Please also keep in mind that not everyone in this sub is in a heterosexual relationship. Abuse can be perpetrated by anyone and experienced by anyone.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
