What this page is

This page quotes r/AncestryDNA's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-06. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/AncestryDNA's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

What its rules say about AI and bots

No AI Generated Content
AI slop is increasingly taking over the internet while producing things of little to no value. This subreddit will not participate in this trend. This applies to images and even "analyses" conducted by any AI/LLM
All 5 rules of r/AncestryDNA
  1. Do not break General Reddiquette
Racist, sexist and or hateful comments/posts are absolutely not tolerated here. Treat fellow Redditors with respect. Any violation of this rule will end with a warning or ban, depending on the severity of the violation. Punishment is ultimately down to moderator discretion.
  2. No "Guess" posts or similar inference posts based phenotype or results
"Guess My Ethnicity", "Guess where I'm from" , “Do I look like my results”, “Do I look like X relative”, “Which ethnicity/percentage do I look like”, “Guess where was born based on my results”, “Guess my ethnicity or make inferences based on surnames” posts are not allowed. There is a weekly "Guess My Ethnicity Megathread" that you may participate in for these kinds of things.
  3. No Sample Status/Timeline Posts outside the pinned, monthly Megathread
No Sample Status/Timeline Posts outside the monthly megathread. Although not directly handled by AncestryDNA, shipping status posts are also prohibited under this rule and may be discussed in the megathread. This rule does **not** prohibit posts about technical questions regarding kit setup, sample collection, or direct international movement of samples.
  4. No advertisement of products or services
Advertising products or services in posts or comments on this subreddit is not allowed. If you want to run an advertisement for a product or service, you need to use [reddit ads](https://ads.reddit.com/) to do so. **This rule does not prohibit user discussion, questions, comments, mentions, etc.**

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
