Can you promote on r/Archery?

Self-promotion restricted Its rules restrict self-promotion. Posts that promote your own work are likely to be removed.

What this page is

This page quotes r/Archery's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-13. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/Archery's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($49 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

This is a place where archery/bowhunting/crossbow enthusiasts can mingle and talk about their craft.

What its rules say about promotion

Rule 5: Buy/Sell and Valuation posts will be removed
This is not the appropriate forum for these posts.
Advertisements and affiliate links will be marked as spam.
This includes submissions that are simply advertisements, even if they have the word "archery" on them somewhere. Just because something is not paid doesn't mean the post isn't an advertisement. Content is expected to contribute to the sub and not just be forms of self-promotion.
All 9 rules of r/Archery
  1. Reddit rules and reddiquette apply.
    https://www.redditinc.com/policies/content-policy https://www.reddit.com/wiki/reddiquette
  2. Every discipline is welcome!
Please refrain from discriminating based on another user's style of shooting or choice of bow. PVC bows are archery as much as FITA compound.
  3. Posts must be archery related.
Posts must be archery related. Effort and content policies are left to the voters. This includes jokes, reposts, and memes - if you don't like it, downvote it; please refrain from reporting them unless they violate the other rules!
  4. Mark all hunting content as NSFW.
Not all of our community members are hunters, and many people who follow multiple unrelated subreddits find suddenly seeing a dead animal jarring or unpleasant. Please be respectful. If you do post hunting content, please be respectful, and mark your post NSFW. Users who engage in harassment of people who post hunting content in compliance with this rule can face consequences for doing so.
  5. Rule 5: Buy/Sell and Valuation posts will be removed
This is not the appropriate forum for these posts.
  7. Studies or surveys may not be posted here
Since the intent and people behind requests to collect data cannot be conclusively verified, no studies, surveys, or market research may be solicited in this sub. Market research and product research fall under this rule.
  8. This is not an exhaustive list of rules. (Do not use this as a reporting reason.)
Note: **DO NOT USE THIS RULE AS A REPORTING REASON.** This discretionary rule is for the use of the mods. If you think something falls into this category, you should instead message the mods via the button in the sidebar. Moderators have full discretion to remove or approve items not explicitly on this list of rules as they see fit. Please note that people who abuse the report button will themselves be reported to Reddit's admins.
  9. 9. No requests for medical or legal advice.
Not only is it a really bad idea to ask random people on the internet for such advice, but also the /r/archery sub is not the place to be asking those questions. Please contact the appropriate professional about your question instead.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
