What this page is

This page quotes r/AutisticAdults's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-13. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/AutisticAdults's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($49 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

For adults who are on the autistic spectrum, or think they might be on the autistic spectrum, regardless of diagnostic status. This is a relaxed, rules-light community, preferring discussion rather than memes and media. If you are here to promote a product, seek an audience or ask for help in dealing with an autistic person, please read our community guide carefully before posting.

What its rules say about promotion

Sales, solicitation and self-promotion
This subreddit exists primarily for the members who regularly participate in discussions here. We do not provide our members as a market, audience or service for people looking for a convenient group of autistic adults to advertise to. If you are in doubt about whether your post is appropriate, please check with the moderators first. We will be particularly sympathetic to redditors who already participate here asking to promote and share resources they have created elsewhere.
Personal Ads
We understand that finding and keeping friends is an important challenge for many autistic people. Whilst you are welcome to discuss issues related to friends and other relationships here, this is not an appropriate place to advertise seeking friends or romantic partners. We are not equipped with the appropriate moderation tools to make it a safe place for such activity.
Include a summary and explanation when posting a link to material elsewhere
This rule particularly applies when posting the same link to multiple groups, and when you are advertising your own content on a blog or video elsewhere.
All 12 rules of r/AutisticAdults
  1. Asking for help in dealing with an autistic person
This is a community of and for autistic adults. We are not here to judge the behavior of autistic people in your life, or to help you change those people. This rule applies even if you are autistic yourself. Non autistic users posting about an autistic friend, partner or relative must read the community guide carefully before posting, and include [Non autistic OP] in the subject line of their post to facilitate moderation.
  4. Community threads for common questions and topics such as "Am I autistic?"
We have several community threads for topics that do not belong in the main subreddit. Particularly if you are new to the subreddit, please consider whether your post would be more appropriate as a comment in one of these threads rather than as a brand new post.
  5. Put research recruitment posts in the sticky research thread
Researcher posts do not need special permission, so long as they go into the appropriate community thread, following the guidance there.
  6. Do not directly insult individuals or groups
Do not directly insult other participants in this subreddit, or groups that might be represented in this subreddit. Strong language, including the use of personal insults directed at public figures, is permitted except where it would harm members of this community.
  7. Do not invalidate the experiences of other people
Your are free to talk about your own experiences. Please recognise that other people may have different experiences. In particular, please do not suggest that autism, autistic experiences, or difficulties associated with being autistic do not exist.
  8. Do not perpetuate negative stereotypes
Please do not label people as autistic because they exhibit negative behaviors, or assume that someone's bad behavior is because they are autistic.
  9. Respect the language preferences of the people you are talking to
You won't be banned or censored because you say "person with autism" instead of "autistic people". We all have different preferences. But please be polite when people tell you how they prefer to be called.
  10. Do not post pseudoscience or misinformation
Please be sensible when reporting posts based on this rule. This rule will not be used to stifle debate and discussion on contentious issues, only to filter things like spurious medical or legal claims.
  11. Include a summary and explanation when posting a link to material elsewhere
This rule particularly applies when posting the same link to multiple groups, and when you are advertising your own content on a blog or video elsewhere.
  12. Non-autistic people are welcome
You don't have to be autistic to post here. But please approach our community respectfully, understanding that your questions or requests for advice may be perpetuating stereotypes and stigma. Participants operating as researchers or journalists must use a "researcher" flair so that others can freely choose whether to engage with them.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
