All 15 rules of r/blackgirls
  1. Respect
We are respectful of each other. Please refrain from personal attacks, harassment, malicious snark, racist language, and other cruel behaviours.
  2. Problematic Negativity— Which Includes but is not limited to:
-Posts about hatred of being a Black woman, disparaging their/your own looks -Obsession or Fixation on Interracial Couples (in any dynamic) -Hyper-sexualisation, provocative images, NSFW, sex-work promotion, or pornography posts -Low self-esteem/being "undesirable" -Wanting to be accepted in non-Black spaces -Trauma-dumping -Posts about assault or abuse in any form while not using the proper labels/filters and trigger warnings, -Or anything else deemed to be a violation of the rule.
  3. No Male-Centered Posts or Fixations/Infatuations on Men
**This isn't the subreddit**, ~we~ are the focal point, not men: and that's why those posts will be removed. Discourse around men, being "Pro-[insert race] Male" or "Anti-[insert race] Male", begging for their attention, or complaining about multiple unsuccessful short-term relationships with certain types of men are going to have to go somewhere else (another subreddit). We do not center men here, and **this is not a dating/relationship/hook-up subreddit.**
  4. No Tagging Other Subreddits (Brigading or Instigating) or Exposing Other's Information
Please ensure that Reddit usernames and other subreddit names are censored. **Do not tag, link, or name other subreddits in the comments, posts or titles, it will cause harassment and brigading.** Censor real-life identifying information like addresses & license plates. **Breaking this rule will result in a ban, whether "permanently" is moderator's discretion**
  5. Trolling, Baiting, Antagonising, or Lurking to Instigate
Anybody who hate-watches this community, and only participates here as a way to cause drama, create controversy, or screenshot conversations/threads here to post back in their _own_ communities will be considered a lurker. This also goes for those that "randomly stumble" across this subreddit, and decide to create chaos by starting arguments or trolling other users just because they see a post/comment they don't like. Disingenuous members or unproductive users will be permanently banned.
  6. Derailing the Discussion (Deflecting/Whataboutisms)
If you are here as a guess, you are not allowed to derail the conversation just because it makes you uncomfortable, guilty, or defensive. **If you do this, you will immediately be banned and no longer allowed to participate here**; You _will_ humbly respect this space if you insist on being a spectator, or you will be excused.
  7. Community Safety
We are here to keep the community safe. Racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, and transphobia are not tolerated in this subreddit, you will be banned. This is for Black women, by Black women - we are always centred. Furthermore, we view inciting and participating in brigades as an attack on the community. Avoid drama about the community and its members.
  8. Good Faith
We conduct ourselves in good faith. We do not engage in concern trolling, antagonising, rage-baiting, derailing, degrading, diagnosing, or misrepresenting ourselves.
  9. Off-Topic Content or Unauthorized Surveys and Crowdfunding
No Off-topic content including: - Spam content, porn, and Karma-farming content - Asking for money, donations, E-Begging, or promoting crowdfunding pages without mod approval - Feedback and self-promotional content without mod approval - Hook-up posts - Surveys, case studies, or research participation requests/links are not allowed. This is not a specimen group. If you want to find participants for your school project, dissertation, thesis, etc., go on SONA
  10. Agenda-Posting, Rage Bait, and/or Dogwhistles will be removed immediately (nice try).
Agenda Posts, Rage-Bait, Dog whistles (subliminals) are extremely transparent and will be removed immediately.
  11. Encourage Conversation
Create a well rounded post - give enough info in the title and body, it helps to add questions. This subreddit is full of interesting people; engage in your post and try to respond to your comments in the first 5hrs or your post will be considered abandoned. Please no nonsensical ramblings.
  12. No NSFW images allowed
NSFW content is only allowed when it is surrounding discussions around sex, pornography, relationships and etc. not the actual content. This means -No OnlyFans posts or posts of the sort -No links to adult content or adult work content. This includes lewd images. We are allowed to talk about these things and should talk about these things because this is a safe space. We do not want to invite unwanted users to impose themselves in our space. Failure to follow this rule will result in a ban.
  13. Inflammatory Anti-Diaspora/Xenophobia-like Posts
In an effort to keep this space cohesive, peaceful, and within Reddit ToS, making posts geared negatively about other groups of Black women/people within the Black diaspora or from other countries (even in the guise or façade of a "serious question") invites hostility and xenophobic rhetoric to be thrown in the comments. We will not allow that here, and those sort of topics and posts are better suited elsewhere.
  14. Excusing or Rationalising Sexual Abuse (Adult or Minor)
No encouraging, defending, rationalising, justifying, excusing, or inciting sexual— **violence, abuse, assault, harassment**, "kink" or not. This includes playing "Devil's Advocate" for abusers, using whataboutisms on their behalf, or trying to minimalise sexual abuse in any way, shape, or form. —Also, **no inappropriate comments towards children, justifying abuse towards children, _or_ dismissing heinous crimes against minors.** If it even _appears_ that way, you will permanently banned.
  15. Vague Title/Title Unrelated to Post
Please ensure that your title is not vague or unrelated to your post: Meaning **it should be a brief description related to the content of your post**. This rule for the sake of both subreddit members and moderators. Your post will be removed if the title is not appropriate.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
