What this page is

This page quotes r/BookDiscussions's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-12. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/BookDiscussions's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($49 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

A place for book lovers to share and discuss their favorite reads, genres, authors, and recommendations.

What its rules say about promotion

No self promotion
do not sell own book. do not post about book you wrote. do not post about book if someone pay you money to post. we talk about book because we like book, not because we sell book.
All 4 rules of r/BookDiscussions
  1. Adhere to Reddiquette and Reddit Guidelines
Please follow the [Reddit Guidelines](https://www.redditinc.com/policies/content-policy) All posts & comments must adhere to [Reddiquette](https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439-Reddiquette) and the [Reddit Guidelines](https://www.redditinc.com/policies/content-policy) or they will be removed. Repeat offenses may result in a ban.
  2. Don't ask for book recommendations
There are better subreddits when you want to get a book recommended to you. Try out r/booksuggestions (our sister subreddit). If you're searching for a specific book, check out r/whatsthatbook instead.
  3. Discussions must be about books
Posts you make need to be about a specific book (or book series). You cannot just use this sub for your creative writing fanfic.
  4. No self promotion
do not sell own book. do not post about book you wrote. do not post about book if someone pay you money to post. we talk about book because we like book, not because we sell book.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
