- its rules on Reddit
Welcome to r/CaribbeanMedSchool - A positive subreddit dedicated to those in or aspiring to attend medical school in the Caribbean, with a focus on practicing in the United States. We will always preach the following: Try USMD/DO, reapply. If all else fails then consider Caribbean schools approved by the US Department of Education. Please note that Caribbean schools are high risk-high reward options of last resort which often don't work out. We don't encourage private loans at any cost.
What its rules say about promotion
No Advertising (includes suspected advertising). No buying/selling resources. No school staff!
No offering to sell or trade resources, tutoring, test questions etc... No blatant advertisements of specific medical schools or links to other social media. No posting comments or posts that sounds like blatant advertising. If we believe that you are an employee or associate of a school advertising, we will ban you. Exceptions apply. No promotion of new/untested commercial study resources etc.. Promoting Anking, Boards and Beyond, Pathoma and other tried and tested resources is allowed.
All 10 rules of r/CaribbeanMedSchool
- Don't Only Post Anti-Caribbean Content
We know that Caribbean schools are only after the money and statistically lead to failure. No one in the subreddit encourages students to go to the Caribbean as their first choice. However, continuous anti-Caribbean content serves little purpose to those in the Caribbean trying to succeed. - Be Nice
Don't be a mean person. Let's use this community to strengthen one another! We understand that the line between critical and mean may not be so obvious but if your post/comment history is overwhelmingly negative, we will ban you. - No Posting Copyrighted Material
Please don't post past CBSE or USMLE questions verbatim. Discussion of topics, is permitted and encouraged. NBME topic discussion from offline and online forums is allowed as long as it is not verbatim. Bottom line: if it will result in a copyright removal by reddit, it's not allowed to be posted. - Try to be Helpful by adding value to the discussion
Please check if your post/comment adds value to the conversation and helps the OP further address the discussion. Due to the overly hostile and demeaning nature of SDN, any non-helpful posts/comments will be removed. For example saying "XYZ school sucks" will result in removal. But saying "XYZ school is a not a good choice because of reason(s) 1,2,3" is welcome and encouraged. - No Doxxing or Real Names
No Doxxing. If you know someone's real identity, please do not dox them on the subreddit or to your school's administration. When referring to faculty, please use their titles instead of real names. For example, instead of Barack Obama, say former President of America. - No Advertising (includes suspected advertising).
- Don’t encourage violating laws, school policies, or rules of accreditation organizations
For example, don’t suggest methods to cheat on standardized tests, or to lie on applications. - Avoid Hysterical Rants. Don't spam posts or comments.
Many students fail out of Caribbean schools and come on this subreddit to rant. Saying stuff like “the school kicked me out for no reason” will be removed because there is always a reason. Always post the full story to the best of your extent in these situations. Did you fail any classes? Were there any professional issues? Did you take multiple LOAs? Etc… - No “baiting”, “trauma dumping”, “larping”, ban evasions, or obnoxious behavior
Avoid nonsensical posts or comments that seek attention or mask a deeper psychological issue. No “baiting”, “trauma dumping”, “larping”, ban evasions, or obnoxious behavior - Statistics and data can’t be blatantly unfounded
Every Caribbean schools lies about their stats. Don’t perpetuate those lies. Don’t post information that you don’t know. You can guess but state that it’s your guess.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
