What its rules say about promotion
If you are promoting a product, blog, or vlog
Rather than using the "Discussion" flair, please use either "Resource" or "Blog/vlog". "Resource" posts are any which are offering a physical or digital product, even if the product is free. This includes apps, samples, synths, loops, etc. Blog/vlog posts are any posts which are about sharing articles/video content. We do not allow the buying or re-selling of equipment or software, only stuff you have personally created. Resource posts are only allowed from active participants of this sub.

- Always provide a score if you are posting music
A SCORE MUST BE PROVIDED. Audio is optional. Graphic scores are welcome; a score is defined as anything which is intended for a performer to interpret and read from. A screenshot of your DAW project or piano roll is not a graphic score. If you have more than one piece that you would like to post, you must leave at least 24 hours between submissions. You are welcome to include multiple pieces in one post. - Score must be legible
The sheet music for your music post *must* be legible on desktop and mobile. The mods will use their discretion in making this judgement. To be safe, *always* include a link to the pdf of the sheet music. If you are only providing a score video then make sure it is only for a few instruments. If you're writing for orchestra then it will most likely fail our criteria for legibility. - Tone and civility
All posts and comments should be respectful and courteous. Composers are here to learn or to help one another; insulting and bashing is not in the spirit of education or supporting fellow artists and will not be accepted. Disagreements are welcome; hostility is not. One word answers/comments often lead to hostile reactions while at the same time adding absolutely nothing to the overall discussion. They will be removed at the discretion of the moderators. - Posting a commission
* The Commission flair is for anyone looking to hire a composer. Please include as much relevant information as possible! * All commission posts must indicate compensation. If it's unpaid you can specify that. Any commissions which violate this rule will be removed. * Once the commission is filled, please switch the flair for the post to "Completed". * If you complain about the terms, your comment will be removed at the moderators' discretion. - If you are promoting a product, blog, or vlog

Anything goes as long as it is related to the focus of the subreddit. When answering a question, provide an explanation. A one-word answer does not explain anything and will be removed. Assume that people are interested in learning something. - Posting about notation
* If you're asking for critiques on the engraving of your score, please use the Music flair. * Anything else related to notation/engraving including general questions about best practices, questions about how to accomplish something in a notation program, and discussions/articles about the subject, can all be posted with the Notation flair. - Use of AI
You **may not** post music generated by AI using apps like Suno. You **may** post computer generated/algorithmic music. You **may** use AI to create the text for your post but you must say why you've done so. You **may not** post apps created using “vibe coding” where AI writes the entire program. You **may** post apps generated using AI as a tool. This has become very common. You **may** post discussions about AI and music. Note, posts asking "Will AI replace composers" will be removed.
