What this page is

This page quotes r/consumecanadian's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-05. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/consumecanadian's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

What its rules say about promotion

1. Promote Canadian products & services.
No negativity about other countries, products etc. We are here to discuss and promote buying Canadian, and while the geopolitical situation is the why of that for many of us, please direct such discussions to r/BoycottUnitedStates. Keep the focus on buying Canadian and on Canadian companies. Posts that are off-topic may be removed.
3. Be Transparent & Disclose business affiliations.
If you are posting representing a business, you must mark the post as a brand affiliate. You must state your relation to the business clearly. This includes family and friends, not just employees. Posts which do not clearly disclose these relations will be removed.
4. Self-Promotion Must be Approved
If you are posting purely to promote your or your friends/family's business, you must have prior mod approval. Posts without this approval will be removed. Comments that are promoting a business unsolicited may be subject to removal if they sound "spammy" as well.

What its rules say about AI and bots

8. No LLM/Bot Posting is Permitted
r/consumecanadian values human, Canadian experiences and opinions. Posts and comments which appear to be made by "generative AI", or other automated/bot posting, will be removed, at the moderation team's sole discretion.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
