What this page is

This page quotes r/Detailing's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-10. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/Detailing's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

This sub is about finding help with detailing questions. **Please see the FAQ post before asking a question. Dupes will be deleted, and the user asking a question that is on the FAQ will be temporarily banned.**

What its rules say about promotion

No advertising
Advertising a site or product is not what this sub is about.
No self promotion
Posts that lead back to a personal or business website unless specifically asked for by OP.
All 8 rules of r/Detailing
  1. No questions that are in the FAQ
FAQ's are here for a reason. If you ask one, it will be removed and you'll get banned temporarily. Usually 3 days unless it's egregious. If you argue about it, the ban will be permanent.
  2. Don't be a dick
We're all people. If you don't have anything nice to say, just let it go and get on with your day.
  3. No advertising
Advertising a site or product is not what this sub is about.
  4. No self promotion
Posts that lead back to a personal or business website unless specifically asked for by OP.
  5. No bad advice
This is no place for bad advice. Advising the use of products not made for vehicles, using auto products in a way they are not designed, etc.
  6. No low effort posts.
Questions about the best this or recommended that, or how do I get started will be deleted. Be as specific as possible with your questions. i.e. "What is the easiest to apply ceramic coating?" Not just "What is the best ceramic coating?"
  7. No pricing questions
Pricing questions are too localized for anyone to answer it knowledgeably. No mas.
  8. No political/relegion/weird stuff.
Self-explanatory. This sub is about detailing and detailing related items/questions, none of those other items apply here and will result in a timeout to help you understand that followed by a perma-ban if you still don’t get it.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
