What this page is
This page quotes r/DnD5e's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-12. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/DnD5e's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

What its rules say about promotion
No Spam or Excessive Posting
A single user may submit no more than one post per 24 hours. This applies regardless of whether the posts contain homebrew, discussions, artwork, promotional material, or other content. Repeatedly reposting the same or substantially similar content, excessively promoting the same project, or attempting to bypass this limit may result in posts being removed. Comments are not affected by this rule.
No More Than One Promotional Post Without Usable Homebrew Every 14 Days
Posts primarily promoting a D&D product, project, Patreon, Kickstarter, website, channel, or similar work, without substantial usable homebrew, are limited to once every 14 days per user. Posts containing substantial, usable D&D homebrew, such as a complete monster, item, subclass, encounter, or similar content, follow the normal posting rules even if they also advertise, link to, or promote a paid product or larger project.
All 6 rules of r/DnD5e
- Be Respectful and Civil
Treat other members with respect, even when you strongly disagree. Personal attacks, harassment, insults directed at other users, hate speech, discrimination, trolling, or deliberately hostile behavior are not allowed. Debate ideas, rules, editions, and playstyles without attacking the people behind them. - Keep Posts Relevant to D&D
Posts must be directly related to Dungeons & Dragons. Discussions about rules, campaigns, characters, monsters, adventures, settings, homebrew, resources, news, artwork, and other D&D-related topics are welcome. Content with only a vague or indirect connection to D&D may be removed. - Homebrew Is Welcome
Sharing homebrew is encouraged. Classes, subclasses, monsters, magic items, spells, feats, adventures, rules, maps, encounters, tools, and other original D&D content are all welcome as long as the post provides something the community can actually use, read, discuss, or give feedback on. You may link to a larger project, product, website, Patreon, DriveThruRPG page, Kickstarter, or similar source alongside your homebrew, but the post itself should still contain meaningful D&D content. - No Spam or Excessive Posting

This subreddit is intended for all audiences. Please refrain from posting images containing nudity, sexual content, or explicit material. Such content is not permitted and will be removed to maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all members.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
