What this page is

This page quotes r/GIMP's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-11. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/GIMP's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($49 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a cross-platform image editor available for GNU/Linux, macOS, Windows and more operating systems. It is free software, you can change its source code and distribute your changes.

All 5 rules of r/GIMP
  1. Support Request
Support requests should contain enough information for others to understand or reproduce the problem or task. Consider to add screenshots or screen recordings if these can provide additional information.
  2. Screenshots & Screen recordings
Screenshots and recordings should be done on the systems where GIMP is being used. Doing so with an external camera, like a mobile phone, provides suboptimal results: skewed, blurry images, shaky and blurry recordings.
  3. Rants
When composing a rant, please confirm whether what you are ranting about isn't a known problem, make sure you are ranting about a behavior in a current version of GIMP, and also consider to check if the current development version behaves differently.
  4. Formatting
Reddit offers paragraphs, lists, links, quoting... please make use of this and avoid walls of text.
  5. Avoid link-only answers
Such answers often leave users without any idea what to expect, At least provide a short description of what they can expect to find.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
