- its rules on Reddit
r/HousingIreland is aimed at addressing the housing crisis that has gripped Ireland for the past decade. Our government has sold out buyers and renters with inflationary policies that are damaging the fabric of our society. This sub is for discussing news, analysis, solutions and activism. #HousingAction
All 4 rules of r/HousingIreland
- Be civil to each other. Don't troll.
Mocking, gloating, trolling, shitposting (posting to simply rile up and cause conflict) and being a jerk isn't helping us make progress on this issue. Accounts that engage in this, especially throwaways and sock puppets, should be reported and repeat offenders will be banned. - Be constructive and advance the cause.
While not everyone agrees on solutions, this is an activist sub focused on Ireland's housing crisis, which we believe is damaging the fabric of our society. Debating whether housing is a problem is not productive. Sniping at solutions in order to defend the status quo is not productive. Repeating familiar, ineffectual arguments ("just move," "just earn more") is not productive. Offenders who take this posture may face a time-out 7-day ban. Repeat offenders will be banned permanently. - No racism, sexism, xenophobia or targeting specific groups.
Please report any instances so posts can be removed and perpetrators banned. Any discussions about immigration — if they occur at all — should be focused on policy solutions related to housing. We believe that the state must take responsibility for the availability of housing to those who choose to live and work in this country. Ireland has clear demographic projections and must make decisions on that basis. - No hijacking or undermining of subreddit goals.
This sub aims to provoke a change to Ireland's approach to housing through informed, safe and effective activism. Deliberate attempts to undermine this ethos will result a time-out 7-day ban. Repeat offenders will be banned permanently.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
