Can you promote on r/hypnosis?

Self-promotion restricted Its rules restrict self-promotion. Posts that promote your own work are likely to be removed.

What this page is

This page quotes r/hypnosis's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-12. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/hypnosis's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($49 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

/r/Hypnosis is a place to discuss technique, methodology, and experiences of hypnosis.

What its rules say about promotion

No advertising
If you break this rule, you get permanently banned with no appeal. Without restrictions on advertising the subreddit gets flooded with ads. Because of this, we've moved advertising to its own subreddit: /r/hypnotherapy
All 5 rules of r/hypnosis
  1. No advertising
If you break this rule, you get permanently banned with no appeal. Without restrictions on advertising the subreddit gets flooded with ads. Because of this, we've moved advertising to its own subreddit: /r/hypnotherapy
  2. No soliciting for subjects (including clients) or hypnotists (including hypnotherapists).
Do not create threads or comments for the purpose of soliciting or finding hypnotists or clients. This isn't a marketplace. Keep to discussion, or: - Go to /r/HypnoHookup/ - Go to /r/hypnotherapy - Go elsewhere. Also, if someone is soliciting for subjects or clients, don't respond to them, because that gives people incentive to keep doing it.
  3. Put in some effort
    - Be very specific about what you would like to discuss and knowledge you would like to gain from the thread/comment. - Keep posts relevant to hypnosis as much as possible. NLP is fine as long as it doesn't stray too far. We understand that there is a lot of overlap between NLP and hypnosis, so it is lenient. - If you have research to support your questions, claims or experiences, use them. It not only helps your point, but gives everyone else something to consider too!
  4. No NSFW/ erotic posts/ comments, UNLESS pertinent to ongoing discussion
Do not post about erotic hypnosis in this subreddit unless it's warranted by already ongoing discussion. /r/erotichypnosis exists for that purpose.
  5. No "I was hypnotized against my will!" posts
I wish we had experts who are qualified and capable of handling these sorts of issues, but we don't. People who make such posts are in a vulnerable place, and most of the replies they get only make things worse.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
