Allowed, with limits Its rules allow sharing your own work, with conditions they spell out.

What this page is

This page quotes r/ImmersiveSim's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-12. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/ImmersiveSim's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.

Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($49 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

A community to discuss games that adhere (at least partially) to the "Immersive Sim" philosophy pioneered by Looking Glass Studios with Ultima Underworld and System Shock.

What its rules say about promotion

Post Relevant Content
All posts must be relevant to the immersive sim game genre / design philosophy / marketing term or games that are related to it. Please avoid posting low effort content.
Self-Promotion Guidelines - Developers
We welcome developers to show your hard work, but please post relevant, quality content at a reasonable frequency to avoid spamming the community. We strictly prohibit posts with low effort, overly promotional material, or an explicit marketing focus. Posts of exceptional quality will be featured in the community highlights and will be tagged with the imsim developer flair.
Self-Promotion Guidelines - Creators
We welcome YouTube reviews, design essays, and creative gameplay videos, but please avoid posting old videos from your channel, and understand reviews on popular older games such as Dishonored rarely get much traffic. All types of direct promotion links are strictly forbidden. Walkthroughs and streaming footage are not allowed.
All 5 rules of r/ImmersiveSim
  1. Follow Reddiquette
All posts and comments must adhere to the rules of [Reddiquette](https://support.reddithelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/205926439-Reddiquette). Any form of personal attacks, harassment, or hate speech will not be tolerated.

  3. Search Before Asking Questions

Also do not post hypothetical questions such as "What about a [famous IP name] immersive sim?" without a constructive analysis from yourself first.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
