What its rules say about promotion
Solicitation
Service providers must receive identifying flair from the mods before being allowed to advertise/suggest their services. Advertising is only allowed: in a post created by a service provider using "Service Provider Advertising" post flair; or in a comment on a post asking for service provider recommendations. Unsolicited advertising in comments and/or DMs is not allowed. Guerrilla marketing/astroturfing (pretending not to be a service provider) is subject to an immediate ban.
What its rules say about AI and bots
No undisclosed usage of AI
Any post or comment that includes AI generated content must include a disclaimer in its first line stating that AI was used and for what purpose. You must also review any AI generated content for incorrectness or misinformation, or it may be removed under the Misinformation rule. For example, a post or comment should begin with: “I used AI in this post to translate my post from Portuguese to English.” “The banner image of this post is AI generated.”
All 12 rules of r/juresanguinis
- Be Civil
No comments or posts insulting another user that go beyond a simple disagreement. - Illegal Activity/Content
Avoid posting illegal content or soliciting or facilitating illegal or prohibited transactions. Meaning, don't perform, request, offer to do, or advocate for a solution that requires breaking the law in Italy, the European Union, or elsewhere. Reddit is subject to both the EU Digital Services Act and the EU General Data Protection Regulation. For these reasons, baselessly accusing avvocati of financially-motivated ethics violations and aggregation of personal data fall under this rule. - Solicitation
- No Namedropping "Easy" Comuni
Avoid namedropping comuni that are considered fast, easy, and/or good to apply for administrative (JS) recognition in. Historically, this has caused those previously efficient comuni to become overwhelmed by new applicants and/or put them at risk of an audit. Namedropping difficult comuni is fine, as is naming a general province or region. - No Politics
Political discussion is not permitted on this sub. This includes discussing if one is motivated by political/social reasons for seeking to be recognized as an Italian citizen via jure sanguinis. The exception to this rule is that discussion about jure sanguinis laws or proposed laws is allowed, but is limited by Rule 1. Political discussion is more freely allowed on r/ItalianCitizenship. - No Misinformation/Disinformation
No Misinformation: No presenting opinion or demonstrably false information as fact. Be aware that AI has not reliably been able to parse the complexity of Italian citizenship law, and we expect you to disclose that you've used AI in this manner, as well as personally validate the information it gives you. No Disinformation: No spamming the sub with comments/posts that contain repeatedly disproven information and/or baseless conspiracy theories. - No Anti-JS Sentiment
Do not express an opinion that is opposed to JS in any way. This includes: proclaiming that people shouldn’t be recognized as Italian citizens, expressing glee over someone not being recognized, and/or any other form of anti-JS related trolling. This is a zero tolerance rule - those in violation are subject to an immediate ban. If you want to hate on JS or have a hot take, take it to r/ItalianCitizenship. Civil, thoughtful comments on JS reform to stabilize and keep JS going are fine. - No Sharing Identifying Information
If sharing someone else’s post from another subreddit or other form of social media, remove, anonymize, or redact all names. This includes not only OP’s name, but all other names that are in their post. - Brigading
Users brigading from another subreddit will be immediately and permanently banned. Users who come from our subreddit to brigade another subreddit or user will also be banned. This is a sitewide Reddit rule. - No undisclosed usage of AI
Any post or comment that includes AI generated content must include a disclaimer in its first line stating that AI was used and for what purpose. You must also review any AI generated content for incorrectness or misinformation, or it may be removed under the Misinformation rule. For example, a post or comment should begin with: “I used AI in this post to translate my post from Portuguese to English.” “The banner image of this post is AI generated.” - No Public Sharing of Aggregated Court Data
We have been legally advised not to allow public platforming of aggregated court data. Additionally, public sharing of these data has proven to be a disaster in the past. The story about VenezaFlix ([see here](https://italianismo.com.br/en/tag/venezaflix/)) broke 10 days before the Italian government decided to radically change their citizenship laws with decreto legge n. 36/2025. - Help Us Help You
Help Us Help You: This sub strives to be helpful, and when a post has no detail or an enormous wall of unfiltered detail, it’s difficult to provide good information. Please provide an appropriate level of detail on your post, or we may remove your post and ask you to elaborate or consolidate. This is also true for questions that are easily answered by reading the wiki - we may remove your post and redirect you to the wiki if your question has already been answered there.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
