Surveys require mod approval. You may not develop a tool or code, publish it, then ask for feedback here. AI generated content, AI "tools," and AI integrated code will be removed. Discussion of AI in journals, publications, lab/teaching contexts, or critiquing bad AI is at mod discretion, with the intent of keeping focused on LabRats style content.

  3. No medical advice, home experiments, or illicit drug questions
    Do not request interpretation of medical tests or assays, advice on purchasing peptides or bioactive compounds, or guidance on illegal/illicit drug use or manufacturing. Unqualified and/or unethical home experiments are also off limits.
  4. Keep it polite, civil, and in good faith
    No ad hominem attacks. No bad faith participation. Low effort posts will be removed.
  5. No political posts*
    Political posts are generally removed. On topic policy discussion related to current situations is usually allowed; off topic venting at the administration is not. These topics may undergo heavier moderation and are at moderator discretion.
  6. No Twitter/X links
    Direct links are banned, as account typically required and at community request. Science relevant screenshots are fine.
  7. Journalists must be Verified
    Reporters/Journalists seeking to interview users must verify with the mod team first. Unverified posters will be banned pending verification.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
