What this page is
This page quotes r/LawCanada's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-10. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/LawCanada's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.
Free, for a specific product: a researched Reddit plan by email (communities whose rules fit your post, quoted and dated), or ThreadFox Lite, read-only tools an AI assistant can use to read a community's current rules itself, through your own Chrome (Claude Code: claude mcp add threadfox-lite -- uvx threadfox-lite). For an assistant that also writes and posts within each community's rules, the ThreadFox kit is $49 once.
Want to post here? Get ThreadFox ($49): your AI (Claude Desktop, Claude Code or Codex) reads a community's current rules, writes one post that fits and posts once from your own Chrome. No Claude? We'll post for you ($99 per 30-day campaign). Free: a Reddit launch plan for your product, ThreadFox Lite or the posting checklist by email.

Welcome to r/lawcanada! Our community is a space for Canadian lawyers, law students, aspiring lawyers, and laypeople to discuss Canadian law, the practice of law, career advice, industry news, and the like. This community is not for soliciting or discussing legal advice. Posts must engage with law, the practice of law, legal process, or legal policy in a substantive way.
What its rules say about promotion
No soliciting legal advice
This community is not focused on providing legal advice. We suggest that you try r/legaladvicecanada. But, be careful with placing the future of your business, your finances, or your liberty on the advice of strangers on an internet forum. Posts soliciting legal advice (even “hypothetical situations” that may or may not apply to “your friend”) will be removed at moderator discretion. Repeat offenders will be banned.
No soliciting clients here
No soliciting clients in posts or in the replies. No DMs either. If someone DMs you to solicit your business or offer legal advice, send a screenshot to the modmail and we'll ban them.
All 9 rules of r/LawCanada
- No soliciting legal advice
This community is not focused on providing legal advice. We suggest that you try r/legaladvicecanada. But, be careful with placing the future of your business, your finances, or your liberty on the advice of strangers on an internet forum. Posts soliciting legal advice (even “hypothetical situations” that may or may not apply to “your friend”) will be removed at moderator discretion. Repeat offenders will be banned. - No law school admissions threads
Posts inquiring as to whether you or your friend are competitive applicants to Canadian law schools based on your circumstances are not permitted. A better place to seek this feedback is lawstudents.ca; but again, take the advice of strangers on the internet with caution. - No broad and general questions on the NCA process/becoming a lawyer
The process of converting a foreign law degree to a Canadian one (i.e. the NCA process), and whether you should consider becoming a lawyer have been discussed ad nauseum here. Please, use the search function to locate old threads on this topic before asking your question. These topics are not off-limits, but your question should have a degree of specificity that makes it stand out from the numerous times this question has been asked before. - No discussing bar exam specifics.
Posts or comments that discuss in anything but general terms the contents of a bar exam will result in a ban. - Be Respectful
Remember reddiquette, and try to engage positively with your fellow redditors. Making fun of immutable characteristics/race/mental health/etc. will not be tolerated. - No soliciting clients here
No soliciting clients in posts or in the replies. No DMs either. If someone DMs you to solicit your business or offer legal advice, send a screenshot to the modmail and we'll ban them. - Links to articles must not simply reproduce the headline, but rather contain a discussion question
If you are going to link to an article, you cannot reproduce the headline of the article as your post. Instead, your post must contain a discussion question relating to the law or the practice of law. Links to articles that reproduce the headline will be removed. Repeat offenders will be banned. - Moderator Discretion
The moderators have overriding discretion to delete comments and/or ban users for reasons they see fit. - Job Ads Welcomed
It is okay to post job ads for lawyers here.
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
Let your AI read the rules before it posts.
ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
