Can you promote on r/Leathercraft?

This is the subreddit for all leathercrafters. Here, we learn about techniques and tools, develop our skills, solve problems, and showcase our beautiful works of functional art. For leather identification, repairs, alterations, or modifications of commercial items, consider other subreddits or contact the manufacturer. For handmade items, consider contacting the maker. All are welcome! Please read the rules before posting. Rudeness, harassment, and excessive profanity are strictly prohibited.

What its rules say about promotion

/leathercraft is a place to showcase your work, not to sell it or to commission someone to make it. Posts that are overtly commercial in nature (commercial website/ shop link/ etc) will be removed. Showing off items that you've made using commercial patterns is fine, selling patterns isn't. If you want to list an item, pattern for sale, or commission one, please do so on /leatherclassifieds.

Cross-posting by moderators of other subreddits for the purpose of follower skimming or promoting commercial activities through the act of cross-posting is strictly prohibited. Cross-posting should be relevant to the community and not done in a manner that may be perceived by the community as commercial in nature.

  2. Original Content [OC] Only - No Reposts /Impersonation
    Project posts must be of your own work. You may not post on behalf of a family member, friend, etc. who does not have a Reddit account. This is also not the place to post something that you bought/ commissioned/ etc. Stolen content/ impersonation will result in a ban.
  3. No Leather Care or Leather Repair Posts.
    /leathercraft is about making things from leather. It isn't the place for soliciting advice on stain removal, maintenance, preventative care, conditioning or repair of leather or shoes, boots, jackets, handbags, couches, chairs, etc. If you need advice on an item or a conditioner, please reach out to the manufacturer for support.
  4. No "Is this Real Leather", "What is this Leather", or Item Quality Related Posts
    /leathercraft isn't a sub for identifying whether the item that you bought is or isn't made of real leather, is or isn't made of high quality leather, or to identify leathers that you've bought, seen pictures of, etc.
  5. BDSM/ Kink/ Fetish Items Must be Tagged NSFW
    As above.
  6. Behave Yourselves
    /leathercraft is a broad community composed of leatherworkers of all kinds. Everybody isn't into the same things and that's fine by us. If you don't like something, downvote and move on. Trolling, harassment, excessively rude/ offensive/ vulgar/ suggestive commentary, stolen/ misrepresented content, posting recognized hate speech/ symbols can result in a temporary, and in some cases, permanent ban.
  7. No Hobby Drama
    So you had a bad experience with a leather adjacent vendor, maker, manufacturer, etc. /leathercraft is not the place to air your grievances. Take it up with them and don't bring it in here. First time offenses will result in a temporary ban. Repeated offenses will result in a permanent ban. Spamming Modmail will not help your case.
