What this page is
This page quotes r/Medford's rules as ThreadFox read them on 2026-10-11. The quoted text is the community's; the verdict above is our reading of it. Conditions often decide whether a post fits (a required thread, flair, posting day, account age or karma), and r/Medford's current rules on Reddit always win over this page.

What its rules say about promotion
Prejudice or protmoting hostility.
Posts and comments that promote or espouse the ideas of prejudice or hostility against people because of their race, minority group, sexual orientation, gender preference, or other similar traits will be removed.
All 9 rules of r/Medford
- Non-Local COVID Post
All posts related to COVID including vaccinations, mandate changes, news or otherwise **must** be about Medford *specifically.* Not Oregon, not Interstate 5, not Jackson County, not Phoenix, Talent, nor Central Point. This rule was made in response to a huge amount of spam on the matter drowning out legitimate local content. - Non-Tagged COVID Post
To prevent the inevitable comment fight, all COVID posts must be tagged with [COVID] in the title. This allows those who wish to have access to important updates to easily find them, but more importantly those who do not wish to view COVID posts can easily filter them out altogether thus discouraging incivility in the replies. It's a small step and takes only a moment. Just put [COVID] in front of the title and you are good to go. - Nothing but a Directed Insult
Avoid posting and comments where the only substantive portion is a directed insult. Such replies discourage discussion and actually encourages like-minded retort. You have a downvote button and a suggestion on how it should be used, so little reason to add insult to injury. And if you call somebody a Nazi you may just be permabanned. We **do not allow** downplaying genocide and other atrocities so one can turn a seriously devastating historical event into a modern low-effort political insult. - General Incivility
Reddit rules demand inclusivity. If your post or comment marginalizes a person or group or appears to invite discussion that does the same, it will probably be removed. Edge cases are normally flaired instead and may end up being removed if the discussion turns sour. This differs from directed insults as it encompasses more indirect forms of communication. That is, the former is more of a statement whereas incivility may be concealed in rhetoric. - Directed Accusation
Posts which contain an accusation directed against a person, group of persons, business, or group of businesses should be backed up with more than just an anecdote. This covers *all* accusations which one might be held responsible for libel. When in doubt the post will simply be removed. Avoiding removal may be as easy as wording the post in a different way or concealing privately identifiable information. - No NSFW sexual content
Pictures, posts, comments, or links of an explicitly sexual nature are not allowed. Items meant to be effected by this rule include pornographic images and videos, sexual propositions, attempts to specifically find sexual partners using r/Medford. - Prejudice or protmoting hostility.
Posts and comments that promote or espouse the ideas of prejudice or hostility against people because of their race, minority group, sexual orientation, gender preference, or other similar traits will be removed. - Doxxing
Aside from newsworthy and publicly available information, providing information in a post or comment that could identify a user or community member without their consent is not allowed. - No GoFundMe or similar campaigns
What the written rules don't show
- Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
- Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
- The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.
