This is a sub dedicated to providing support, resources, mental health related news and a space for people in the UK dealing with mental health issues. This sub has never had and doesn't currently have any formal affiliations with any organisations. We do not consent to any data being used from this subreddit without explicit moderator approval.

What its rules say about promotion

External personal content
Please send all research requests via modmail before posting. Fundraisers can be promoted only on behalf of mental health charities. No advertising (including covertly) or posting from a business account. Personal blog/social media posts can be made on the first and last day of each month. No requests for product testing or self promotion. No journalism requests or AMAs.
No misinformation including promoting conspiracy theories or the discussion of conspiracy theories
This includes but is not limited to: stigma towards any diagnosis, harmful non-evidenced advice in risky areas such as in the management of psychotic symptoms, and misinformation about medication. Speaking from experience is okay, but if you are making claims or providing specific information, please make sure to double check you are able to substantiate this. Some people may be able to handle discussion of conspiracy theories, but this is ultimately not the appropriate sub for this.
No promoting pornographic material (including no posting from a porn account)
This sub is open to people who are under 18 and as a result it is not appropriate to share anything explicitly sexual here. You are welcome to discuss sexual topics strictly related to mental health, though. For example, speaking about your personal experiences at a SARC. Please tag your post NSFW if it contains content that is sexual in nature (for example, discussion of sexual assault).

What its rules say about AI and bots

No spamming or low quality AI content
Please don't spam the sub. Instead edit the OP if you left any information out rather than reposting within 24h. We encourage users to post once per day, but up to 2 will be considered on an individual basis. Repetitive posts will be removed. AI generated content, unless indicated that it has been used to help a user who may struggle to articulate themselves, will be removed.
No medical questions or offering medical advice
We cannot facilitate medical questions or provide medical advice here. If you need urgent medical help please contact 111 or 999 in an emergency. Otherwise, please get in touch with your prescriber, a GP or another healthcare professional about this. You are welcome to ask for or speak from experience, but please take care to avoid medical blanket statements and veering into strictly medical advice territory. AI generated medical advice may lead to a warning and a ban.
All 14 rules of r/MentalHealthUK
  1. Be kind
This sub is intended to be inclusive and welcoming to as many people as possible regardless of their race, sex, gender, sexuality, disability etc. Please extend this kindness equally to your fellow users, both patients and professionals, as well as mods. We don’t tolerate any sort of abusive or discriminatory language or behaviour on this sub or in modmail.
  2. Off topic, unnecessary and/or unproductive content may be removed or locked
Content may be removed if it is off topic, unproductive, derailing or not relevant to the OP. We are not the right sub for legal, relationship, and benefits advice.
  4. No suggesting people should take non-prescribed or illegal drugs
Although using non-prescribed or illegal drugs may work for some, it could be dangerous and unsuitable for others struggling with mental health issues. This includes taking non-prescribed medication, even if legal. Please do not give advice on how to obtain or use illegal drugs, including microdosing. Do not glorify or advocate for illegal drug use. Attempting to facilitate illegal transactions through this sub as this may lead to an outright permanent ban.
  5. Imminent risk and immediate danger
We do not allow the posting of definitive suicide or self harm plans, as well as glamourising or encouraging self harm and suicide. Doing so can negatively impact your mental health as well as that of other sub users. If you intend to end your life and have a definitive plan, please contact 999 or attend A&E. If you need urgent support but it isn’t an emergency (or if you aren’t sure), please contact 111. If you aren't in immediate danger, please add a disclaimer to your post stating this.
  7. News articles must be titled as "news" and marked with a spoiler tag
Due to a number of members finding news articles directly detrimental to their mental health we have implemented limits on how news articles must be posted. They must be titled as simply "news" and the original heading without editorialising must be displayed within the text of the post. They must be marked with a spoiler tag that users do not accidentally read such posts and have an active choice to engage in news articles.
  9. Please avoid blanket terms or speaking on behalf of others
There are both patients and mental health care professionals here, and it's important that everyone feels welcome to share their views where appropriate. If you have a complaint about something/someone, please bear in mind that it doesn't necessarily represent everyone who shares a commonality with them. Please also ensure you're speaking from your own personal experiences and not on behalf of others.
  11. Sharing personal information is not recommended here. Only share via PM at your own discretion
Users are welcome to share their general area such as county and NHS Trust, but please avoid sharing anymore than that on public posts. Members may ask for the purposes of helping you find local support, but you don’t have to share if you feel uncomfortable. Please very careful about sharing identifying information. If someone from the sub is pressuring you to share this, make sure to block and report them, and send the mod team a message.
  13. Potentially harmful content
We do not allow content that could be potentially harmful and triggering, both to the OP and other sub members. This includes mentions of BMI/weight, details and methods about self harm/suicide, and reassurance seeking related to OCD. We recognise that content may not be intentionally meant to be harmful, but it may be removed in the interest of the wider community. Mod discretion is final.
  14. No diagnosis speculation
Please avoid suggesting, asking for, or speculating on any diagnosis. This includes suggestions of “Sounds like you have X diagnosis, have you checked out X condition?”, "You should do X questionnaire for X condition", or "Do I have Y". Please seek the advice of a healthcare professional instead.

What the written rules don't show

  • Unpublished minimums. Many communities remove posts from new or low-karma accounts through AutoModerator settings that are not on the rules page, often before a moderator sees them.
  • Reddit's own filters. Reddit's site-wide spam filters can remove posts from accounts that mostly share links to their own site, in any community.
  • The community's norms. Many communities see themselves as peers, not an audience: post where you already take part, and make the post worth reading without the link.

Let your AI read the rules before it posts.

ThreadFox reads a community's current rules, writes a post that fits them, posts once with Reddit's Brand affiliate tag and checks it stayed up. The free ThreadFox Lite reads rules too.
